" NrrEo STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH DAVIS, OFPI'ITSIBUBGII, PENNSYLVANIA.
I DOOBSTOP.
Application filed October 22, 1920. Serial No. 418,086.
Iaccomplish this object by means of thedevice hereinafter described, reference being "had to the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, in which- Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the device attached to the inner lower side of a door.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the same.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the same.
F ig. 4 is a side elevation, showing the device. in inoperative position.
Fig. 5 is a front elevation of a modification-of my device applied to a door.
Fig. 6 is a side elevation of. the same, the
stop being in inoperative position.
Referring-to-said drawings, 1 is a door on the inner. lower side of which is suitably secured the member, 2, formed of a single plate of sheet steel or iron of suitable thickness or gauge to insure strength and resiliency therein. The sides and lower end of said plate are ben up to form the flanges, a, and the extreme upper end of said plate is provided with outwardly projecting extensions at right angles to the sides which when bent upwardly in alignment with the flanges a form flexlble fingers 3. A member, 4, formed of angle iron or steel, is pivota1ly mounted upon a pin, 5, journalled in the said flan es, a, the said flanges being also a guide or said member, or prop 4, the lower end of said member, sharpened point adapted to engage in the 4, having aearth or other surface for the purpose of holding the door in open position. The
flange a, on the lower end of the member, 2,
serves to limit the movement of said member, 4, towards the door and to hold the same in operative position.
In Figs. 5 and 6, Ishow a modified form of the device. In said figures, the member,
2, is provided with retention fingers similar to fingers 3 and at the lower end with lat eralextensionshaving bolt or screw holes to door. The extreme lower end of the side flanges are provided with lugs or fingers, c,'the ends of which are turned inwardly and form a stop, to limit the movement of the member, 4, towards the door, and hold it in operative position.
The device described is made of a single.
sheet of steel of suflicient resiliency to enable the flexible fingers 3 to grasp and hold the member 4 in inoperative position, as shownin Fig. 4.
It is believed that the operation of the device can be readily understood from the preceding description, in conjunction with the drawings.
Having described my invention, ,what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A door stop comprising a member formed ofa single plateot metal and a prop rod pivotally secured in said member, the. said "member having integral outwardly projecting resilient fingers adapted to hold said prop rod in inoperative position, and means at the lower end of said member to limit the movement of the said rod inwardly toward the door.
