ADVERTISING-DISPLAY DEVICE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it'known that I, JAMES W. ALSTOTT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Fort Dodge, in the county of Webster and State of Iowa, have invented a certain new and useful Advertising-Display Device, of which the following is a specification.

The object of my invention is to provide an advertising display device of simple, durable and comparatively inexpensive con struction.

More particularly my invention relates to a display device including a three sided frame which is so mounted that it may easily rotate, each of the sides of the frame havingdoor members thereon arranged with transparent members so that advertisement placed thereunder will be displayed.

Still another object is to so arrange the device that the advertising matter thereon will not become destroyed, regardless of weather conditions.

With these and other objects in view, my invention consists in the construction, arrangement and combination of the various parts of my device, whereby the objects contemplated are attained, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claim, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure l is a perspective view of my improved advertising display device, parts being broken away to better illustrate the construction.

Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view taken on line 2--2 of Figure 1; and

Figure 3 is a sectional View taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2.

In the accompanying drawings, I have used the reference numeral 10 to indicate generally, a weighted base which isprovided with a central screw threaded opening 11.

Mounted within the screw threaded opening 11 is a vertical shaft 12. The base 10 is quite heavy so to provide a firm footing for the entire display device.

The display device consists of a triangular shaped frame A. The frame A consists of the corner upright members 13 which are connected together at their upper and lower ends by means of the cross pieces 14.

In order 'to reinforce the frame A, I pro vide the reinforcing bars 15, 16, and 17, which are mounted at the upper and lower ends of the frame A. Each of the reinforcing bars are arranged to have one end rest against one of the uprights l3 and to have its other end rest midway between one of the cross pieces 14.

From the construction of the parts just described it will be seen that the arrange ment of the reinforcing bars 15, 16, and 17 is such that they will cross in a common point.

Extended'through each of the reinforcing bars 15, 16, and 17 is an opening through which is extended the shaft 12, as clearly shown in Figure 3 of the drawings.

Directly below the reinforcing bar 16 on the lower end of the frame A, is a ball bearing'race 18.. Below the ball bearing race 18 on the shaft 12 is a collar 19, having a set screw 20 therein.

A plate 21 is mounted on the upper reinforcing bar 17 which has an opening therein of substantially the same size as the shaft 12, so as to prevent any wear on the reinforcing bar 17.

It will be seen that by shifting the position of the collar 19 on the shaft 12, that I am able to raise the entire frame member A or lower it as desired. The providing of the ball bearing race 18 permits easy rotation of the frame member A.

Each of the cross pieces 14 and the uprights 13 are provided with a shoulder 22 which receives a composition board 23. The composition board 23 is preferably formed of some material in which a thumb tack may be easily embedded.

The composition board 23 is designed to have advertising matter secured thereto. On each of the corner uprights 13 is the molding 24.

Door members 25 having a glass 26 mounted thereon are hinged to the molding 24 by means of the hinges 27 Fastening devices 28 are arranged on the doors 25 and on the molding 24 for holding the door in proper locked position.

By arranging advertising matter on the composition board 23 and then closing the doors 25, I am able to successfully display the advertising matter without the danger of it becoming spoiled in inclement weather.

My device is especially arranged so that it will rotate on the shaft 12 and in view of the fact, that it is triangular in cross section, the wind will cause it to rotate rather than upsetting it.

Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the various parts of my invention, without departing from the real spirit and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claim, any modified forms of structure or use of mechanical equivalents, which may be reasonably included within their scope.

In an advertising display device, a base, a supporting shaft and a frame rotatably supported thereon, said frame comprising three corner posts equidistantly spaced from each other and from the supporting shaft, said posts being connected by inner cross strips at their upper and lower ends, rabbeted depressions in the inner edges of the outer faces of said cross strips and of the corner posts, moulding pieces fixed to the outer faces of the cross strips and corner posts and covering the rabbeted depressions so as to form inwardly opening slots, panel members received in said slots, door members hinged to the moulding pieces on the corner posts and adapted to fit within the inner outline of the moulding strips, and cross braces extending from each of said corner posts to the cross strips of the side opposite each of said posts.
