IMPROVEMENT IN SAW-FILING DEVICES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 147,438, dated February 17, 1874; application filed January 2, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AzEL P. DURANT, of Voodyards, in the county of Athens and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvelnents in Saw-Filing Machines; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specication.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section, of my improvement, which consists of the devices and appliances as hereinafter set forth and claimed.
A A are clamps, of the ordinary construction, for holding the saw in place during the tiling process. B is a plate, which has an an- A gular end, b, provided with a tongue or tenon,
b', that lits into and slides within a longitudinal mortise or groove, a, of the jaw A. Beneath the apex of the angular plate B is a circular pin, C, that fits into and slides within the mortise or groove a of the jaw A'. D is a frame, into which is secured, by a key, d, or other suitable device, the handle of a file, E. The frame D is made to slide within or upon suitable guides f, upon the swinging plate B. The angle at the apex bis made of such degree that when one of its sides rests against the face of the jaw A the file will enter the throat of the teeth in the proper direction, and when turned so as to bring its other side against the face'of the jaw A the file will en ter the throat of the teeth at the proper angle for the opposite dress.
It will be seen that this machine obviates the necessity of all set-screws or rollers, that are always getting out of order. l
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The saw-filing frame consisting of the jaws A A and the grooves a a, in combination with the angular sliding guide-plate B, provided with tenoned head and pin b b C, and bearing the sliding frame D, substantially as and for the purpose described.
2. The guide-plate B, provided with an angular tenoned head and guides ff, substan tially as and for the purposes described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoingl have hereunto set my hand this 31st day of December, 1873. AZEL P. DURANT.
