CONCRETE FLOOR CONSTRUCTION.
Application filed February 9, 1922. Serial No. 535,170.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORREN D. PURINGTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented new and useful Improvements in Concrete Floor Constructions, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and A further object of the invention is to provide a form or false structure which is simple and economical and which at the same time is effective for the purpose, holding the concrete firmly in position until setting or hardening thereof.
With further and other objects later to be set forth and manifested in the course of the following description, the invention resides in the construction and combination of the various parts now to be described and later claimed.

Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view taken through one of the I-beams;
Figure 2 is a top plan view of one of the form clamps; I
Figure 3 an inner end elevation of Figure 2; and
Figure 4 is an outer end elevation of Fig ure 2.
In proceeding in accordance with the pres ent invention, a series of I-beams 1, are employed and laid in the desired spaced localion, but one beam being shown in the draW- mgs.
Each beam has its base engaged by the nose or upper jaw 2 of a clamp 3 and by a lower L-shaped jaw 4 formed on a central web 5 carried by the clamp. The jaws 2 extend outwardly from the vertical bodies of the clamps which latter are relatively wide or of plate-like form, while the webs 5 are at right angles to the clamp bodies. The clamps are formed with lateral arms or ledges Shaving upwardly extending flanges 9 and 10 to receive a connecting bar 11 which latter is slotted at its ends at 12 to receive 'bolts 13 which latter clamp the bar 11 adjustably to the clamps thereby to secure the latter firmly and rigidly to the beam bases. The flanges 9 and 10 prevent all rocking or pivotal movement of the clamps about the bar 11 and consequently the parts are rigidly related and held against all movement.
In operation, the clamps are first engaged with the opposite sides of the beam bases and the bars then applied and properly adjusted and the bolts 13 then tightened. A false flooring la is now supported on the connecting bars 11 beneath the beam base, so that it will be seen'that the bars 11 thus function in a dual manner. Timbers 15 are now set or laid on edge on the arms or ledges 6 and are engaged with the flanges 7 so that the latter function to hold the timbers against outward movement. Boards 16 are now laid against the timbers 15, a rough flooring 18 being supported on tops of the cross timbers 17. The parts now occupy the position of Figure 1 whereupon grout or concrete is poured into the mold formed as shown and is tamped and leveled to about the line C indicated in Figure 1 of the drawings. Upon setting of the concrete, the form or false structure is collapsed which is attained by removing or lnuocking out the timbers 15, when the entire false structure will practically collapse, the bars 11 being then removed permitting the flooring 14: to drop down. The clamps may be easily removed by tapping same with a hammer, following which the spaces left in the concrete by the clampsmay be filled or pointed up with concrete.
From the foregoing it will be seen that the entire beam is embedded in the concrete and the clamps with the connecting bar thereof, support the entire false frame structure.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In concrete floor construction, in combination with I-beams, clamps having upper and lower jaws engaged with the bases of the beams and having depending parts formed with spaced horizontal flanges, a connecting bar for the clamps engaged at its ends with the flanges, meansto adjustably secure the bar ends to the clamps, a false flooring seated on too of the bar, said clamps having lateral arms flanged at their outer ends, timbers supported on the arms and engaged with the flanges, boards engaged with the inner sides of the timbers, cross timbers seated on thenfirst named timbers, and flooring seated on the cross timbers.
2. In concrete floor construction, in coml iination with Lbeanis, clamps engaged at their upper ends with opposite sides or the base of the beams, a connecting bar torthe lower ends of the clamps disposed below the beams, flooring supported on the bar, lateral arms carried by the clamps, side boards sup ported by the arms, and top boards supported above the side boards.
3. In concrete floor construction, in combination with a beam, clamps having vertical platelil(e bodies with elongated horizontal upper jaws to engage the upper sides of the beam base and central webs at right angles to the plane oi? the bodies and formed with lower jaws at their upper ends to engage the lower-sides oi' the beam base, connecting means for the clamps secured to the webs, and forms carried by the clamps.

5. In concrete floor construction, in combination with a beam, clamps having elongated horizontai u per jaws to engage the upper sides oi" th beam base and central webs formed with lower jaws at their upper ends to engage the lower sides of the beam base, spaced upper and lower abutmcnts on the webs, a connecting bar for the clamps engaged in the spaces between and withtlie abutments, means to secure the bar to the webs and forms carried by the clamps.
6. In concrete 'fioor construction, in combination with a beam, clamps having relatively wide bodies and webs abutting the bodies and disposed in a plane at right angles to the plane of the bodies, the bodies being formed with lateral upper jaws engaging the upper sides of the beam base and the webs having cutouts in the front edges of the webs below and adj acent to the upper jaws to form lower jaws which receive the outer longitudinal edges of the beam base and engage the lower sides of the beam base, connecting means for the clamps, and forms carried by the clamps.

8. In concrete lloor construction, in combination with a beam, clamps depending from the beam and having their upper ends formed with spaced upper and lower jaws engaging opposite sides of the beam base, connecting means for the lower ends of the clamps d osed below the base ol the beam, means to secure the connecting means to the clamps so as to prevent relative pivotal moven'ient oi the parts, and forms carried by the clamps.
9. In concrete floor construction, ,a beam, clamps having spaced upper and'lower jaws engaged with opposite sides of the beam and depending therefrom, forms on opposite sides of the beam, means to support the forms from the respective clamps, connecting means tor the clamps extending in spaced relation to the beam base and below and across the latter, tloor boards supported on the coi'lnecting means, and removable means to independently secure the ends of the connecting means to therespective clamps whereby upon removal of the securing means the connecting means may be removed.
10. In concrete floor construction, in combination with beam, substantially vertical members having parts at their upper ends engaged with the opposite sides of the base of the beam. lateral supports carried by the members and located below the'beam base,
forms supported on the lateral supports and against" the members, and connecting means for the vertical members disposed below the lateral supports.
