H. c. STEVENS I PEEP OPENING FOR WIRELESS TELEGRAPH RADIO BOXES Filed April 5. 1922 J-lE/Y/EY C. STEVE/7.5
Patented Nov. 13, i923.
HENRY G. STEVENS, 0F OAKLAND, GALIFOBNIA.
PEEP OPENING FOR WIRELESS-TELEGRAPH RADIO BOXES.
Application filed April 5,
T 0 all who m it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY C. STEVENS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Peep Openings for lVireless-Telegraph Radio Boxes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is a sight opening for wireless telegraph and telephone radio boxes, which is of such construction as to permit one to look into the box, to ventilate the box and to keep out insects.
Referring to the annexed drawing in which my invention is illustrated and which forms a part of this specification:
Figure 1 is a front view of a radio box and two of my sight openings fitted in the front wall thereof.
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of one form of my sight opening taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 2 of a modified form of my sight opening.
My sight opening comprises a cylindrical shell 1, a ring 2 and a screen 3, said parts being common to both forms of my invention shown in the drawings.
In the form of my invention shown in Fig. 2 the ring 2 is provided with an annular rabbet a in its rear interior edge and an annular internal flange 5 at its forward interior edge, and the screen 3 is formed with an annular flange 6 bent rearwardly from the edge thereof. Said screen fits within the rabbet t against the rear of ring flange 5 with its flange 6 fitting against the annular wall of said rabbet. The forward end of the shell 1 is fitted within the screen flange 6 in the rabbet 4c and said flange to- 1922. Serial No. 549,798.
gether with said end of the shell are soldered to the annular wall of said rabbet.
In the form of my invention shown in Fig. 3 there is no rabbet in the ring 2 but the interior edge of the ring is bent rearwardly forming a rearwardly extending an nular flange 7, while the screen 3 is bent forwardly at its edge forming a forwardly extending annular flange 8. The screen flange 8 is fitted over the ring flange 7 and the forward end of the shell 1 is fitted tightly over the screen flange 8 and the ring flange 7, clamping said screen flange between the shell and the ring flange 7. The forward edge of the shell 1 is soldered to the rear of the ring 2.
The radio box 10 is provided with openings 11, in each of which I fit one of my sight openings, the shell 1 of which fits in the opening with the ring 2 engaging the front wall of the box.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. A sight opening for a radio box including a shell, a ring, and a screen, the forward end of said shell and said screen being secured to said ring with the screen extending across the opening of said ring, and said shell fitting in the opening in the radio box with said ring engaging the wall of the box.
2. A sight opening for a radio box ineluding a shell, a ring and a screen, said ring being formed at its inner edge with an inturned flange, said screen being formed at its edge with an outturned flange fitting over said inturned flange, the forward end of said shell fitting over said screen flange and said ring flange, and the forward edge of said shell being secured to said ring.
In testimony hereof I afix my signature.
HENRY o. STEVENS.
