' J. A. OLIVER CAMP STOVE Filed July '7, 1922 [IIIIIIIIII/I/IIIIIIlI/I/AZ7 INVENTOR WITNESSES Patented Oct. 30, 1923.
UNITED STATES JAMES A. OLIVER, OF KENT, WASHINGTON.
CAMP STOVE.
Application filed July 7,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMns A. Gnrvnn,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Kent, in the county of King and State of Vashington, have invented a new and useful Camp Stove, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to collapsible-camp stoves and has for its object the provision of a portable stove whichis simple in construction and whichmay be instantly erect ed for use or folded into a neat and compact article for storage or transportation.
The invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, with the understanding, however, that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing in the drawing, but may be changed and modified so long as such changes and modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as eX- pressed in the appended claim. a
In the drawing I Fig. 1 is an elevation of the collapsible stove in operative position and mounted in the ground.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the collapsible stove when folded into a compact article. v
3'is aplan view of the same.
Referring to the drawing, 1 designates a ed as shown. at 2, and adapted to be driven into the ground. The tubular body member 1 is provided with a upper end open as shown at-9, and externally threaded to receive the internal threads of a cap 5. The top of the cap is provided with a series of spaced perforations 6 adapted to receive the right-angularly bent ends 7 of the grid rods or arms 8, with the ends of the angularly bent portions 7 resting on the periphery of the open end 9.
By reason of the grid rods 8 being directed at right angles to the angular portion 7 said rods will extend in a horizontal posi- W tion and are arranged radially with retubular member having its lower end point chamber 3, with its 1922. Serial No. 573,318.
With the cap 5 in position, the angularly bent ends 7 are inserted within the perf0rations 6 of said-cap with the ends of the bent portion 7 resting on the periphery of the open end 9 of the: body member. The arms 8 will extend in a horizontal plane and are arranged radially with respect to the body member 1. V w
The rods 8 are adapted to support articles of food to be cooked above a fire which is built close around the body member 1.
hen it is desired to fold the device into a compact article, the grid rods'or arms 8 are removed and the body member 1 is withdrawn from the ground. The cap 5 is then removed and the grid rods are placed within the chamber 3. The cap is then returned to its position on the upper end of the body member.
g The portable stove, which is exceedingly simple and compact in form, is especially adapted for camping parties where it is desired to limit the size of the luggage as much as possible.
Vfhat is claimed is A collapsible camp stove, comprising a pointed tubular member having an open upper. end, a removably secured cap for closing said end provided with a series of perforations, a plurality of separable arms adapted when not in use to be housed within the tubular member and retained entirely within the same by the cap, an end ofeach arm being angularly bent and insertible in a perforation in the cap, so as to sup-port the arm horizontally in radial position with respect to the tubular member.
111 testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto afiixed my signature.
JAMES A. OLIVER.
