To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NIeIIoLAY JENSEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at I/Vashington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Camp- Kits; and I dohereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. n Myinvention relates to that class of devices in which a stove and cooking appliances are made into a compact portable package for the convenient use of personswho are hunting, canoeing, or camping out, and which may be available for light housekeeping.
My invention consists of a novel arrangement of devices whereby the parts are made 'more compact and greater convenience and utility are Secured.
In the drawings, Figure l is-a vertical sectional view of the Stoveframe and lamp in position for use. Fig. 2 is a top View of the stove-frame and lamp. Fig. 3. is a bottom View of the stove-frame. Fig. 4 is a sectional view of the camp kit or chest when packed for transportation. Fig. 5 is a view of the fuelreceptacle, showing its centrall compartments.
A designates the outer inclosing cup or case, in which all the other parts may be packed for transportation, and which may be utilized, as shown in Fig. l, for heating water or liquid food. B is the cover for the saine.
The stove-frame C has the skeleton or perforated top D hinged at one side,-So that it can be turned up at right angles to enable the` receptacle E to be placed beneath the same in packing or for convenience in lighting the lamp or in removing or iilling the same. The ribs or arms d, forming the support for the lamp, are joined at the center. to Va Socket, d', provided with an opening fitting an ordinary gas -burner. This construction enables the stove-frame lo be placed upon a gasburner, and water heated and food warmed or cooked bythe gas-flame instead of by the heat of the' lamp.
The lamp I is of ordinary construction and is provided with the pivoted cover l', which may be used to regulate the size of the llame or to extinguish it altogether, and when the stove is not in use closes the lamp and pren vents the evaporation of the liquid fuel.`
n. The receptacle E is divided into three compartments, one of which, E', is a closed compartment of annular form, extending entirely around the same. This compartment is designed to hold a supply of liquid fuel. This compartment has an orifice for filling, closed by a screw cap or stopper, which is preferably secured so as to be incapable of becoming detached.D The space inside this annular compartment is divided into chambers c f, which may be used to-hold pepper and salt, or may be used for any other purpose.
H isa shallow pan to be used in connection vwith the stove for warming or cooking food.
F is a deeper pan for the same purposes. This latter pan fits within the legs c of the stove-` frame.
It will be Seen that a Stove and alarge number of cooking conveniences are compactly.
packed in a small space when it is to be car-v ried for camping or like purposes, and that,
when desired, the stove-frame may be used in connection with a-gas-burner to form a gas stove for household purposes.v
Vhat I claim, and desire to secu re by Letters Patent, is
1. The stove-frame C, having the open central portion, provided with a part .extending to the center o f the frame below the top thereof for supporting a lamp, and having the socket d', fitting au ordinary gas-burner, substantially as described.
2. The Stove-frame C, provided with supO porting-feet and with the open central portion, and having arms extending to and joining at the-center below the top of the frame, forming a support for a lamp, said arms at their point of junction being provided with N. JENSEN.
