PORTABLE COOKING APPARATUS.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, IsAAo 0. POWER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Cooking Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to an improvement in a portable cooking apparatus and the object is to provide a li ht or simple device of few parts capable 0 all being nested to gether when not in use and of being fitted and placed in position so that several articles can be cooked at the same. time by the use of an ordinary alcohol or other burner.

Among the objects of my invention one is to provide means for protecting the flame against draft and anothef is to so shape the receptacles that when assembled in one position they may be nested and when their position or order is reversed, they will be stacked one upon another in convenient position to utilize all the heat units in the cooking operation.

A further object is to provide means for not only nesting and packing the various parts togetherbut also for fastening them in a close position so that all parts assembled and carried can be easily packed and stored and carried about from place to place.

The body portion of the cooker is. preferably composed of the base section 1 and the rim 2,*base section 1, preferably as a closed bottom and the cylindrical side has openings for the ingress of air to support combustion andthese are of such size and form as to preclude a draft of air of sufiicient strength to blow out the flame, a burner of any suitable type 3, being placed in the center of this base section 1. The

gard as in others but it has been found that in this way ample provision is made for ordinary cookin with the idea of convenience in nesting and packing awa as well as in the actual practical use of t e cooking apparatus.

The two deep pans 8 and 9 also'diifer somewhat in size, as-one must be sufficiently small to fit within the other. There is also another slight difference and that is in the larger pan 8, there is only one annular olfset 11, at the top, whereas in the smaller deep pan 9, there are two

annular offsets

The upper and larger offset 12, affords a recess on the outer side for the head of the larger pan 8, and the inner smaller offset 13, a shoulder upon which the larger pan 8, is supported during the cooking operation.

The shallow pan 10, has a similar oflset 14, in the bottom adapted toloosely fit the open upper end of the deeper pans 8 and 9 or the lower of the rim 2, when upturned to prevent its sliding off. When the various pans areall nested together the rim 2 and both of the deep pans 8 and 9 fit within the base section 1, and the shallow pan 10, is turned over and just fits the outer rim of the base section as shown in Fig. 1, and the several crimped or beaded edges a and 6 engage one another, and two at. least of them are engag d. by the pan, as shown in Fig. 1,

when the parts are nested so that when the strap 14 is pulled tight and fastened and everything is packed together, the binding effect is such that it absolutely precludes the possibility of the various pans moving or rattling.

The loops 15, at the sides are adapted to receive a strap 16, or other fastening means for holding the various parts together.

It is understood that where a burner such as 3, or its equivalent is-used, there is ample room in the center of the inside pan to receive it. y In addition to this there is space for various utensils such as knife, fork, spoon and holder as well as a bottle to receive alcohol or other fuel.

The entire device is thus made of few parts, that is to say, five in all, in addition to the burner which are of simple form and easy to construct, capable of being perfectly nested and packed in small compass when not in use and when in use quickly and easily set up and adjusted so that from one to three different articles of food can be cooked at one and the same time.

I claim:

1. As an article of manufacture, a portable cooking apparatus comprising nestable members, the edgesof which are beaded or crimped and constructed and adapted to fit one another, and when nested are contiguous, one of the members shallow and adapted to act as a cover when the members are nested, its form and dimensions being such that it embraces and engages at least two of the beaded or crimped edges of the nested members, and external means for clamping the shallow member tightly in position,-

whereby. to cause it to have a binding effect to hold the several nested members rigidly together when nested, thereby precluding any possibility of shaking or rattling of said members.

2. As an article of manufacture, a portable cooking apparatuscomprising nestable the beaded or crimped edges-of the nested members, and external means for clamping the shallow member tightly in position, whereby to cause it to have a binding effect to hold the several nested members rigidly together when nested, thereby precluding any possibility of shaking or rattling of said members, said clamping means consisting of a strap slidably and removably connected with one of the members, which,
