UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DFV ITT (l. `lASSETT, OF CAMBRIA MILLS, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT lN THILL-TUGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 147,089, dated February 3, 1874; application tiled December 1, 1873. l
. same time a convenient mode of attachment for the saddle, brecching-strap, and girth.
It will rst befully described and then clearly pointed out in the claim.
A in the drawing represents a two-part m etallic tube, through which passes the thill and which has a groove, a. In this groove turns a circumjaeent metallic tube, B, having the upper loops b b, in which are secured the saddle and breech-straps, and a lower loop, E, to which is attached the girth.
It is obvious that the tube A must be made in two transverse sections, or provided with an end nut, or the tube B must be made in two longitudinal sections, in order that the thill and saddle-tubes may be securely connected together. I prefer, however, the first, as shown in the drawing.
rIhe metallic thill-tugs may be readily japanned in imitation of leather, or ornamentally painted, and may be readily east, thus forming` an article not only strong and durablc, but ornamental and very economical.
The invention is equally applicable to a stationary and rotating1 thill-holder, and this application is intended to embrace both within the scope and protection of the patent.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A thill-tug, consisting of the two-part tube A and the tube B, arranged loosely thereon, and containing loops for the saddle-breeching and `girth-straps, as described.
