Description

1,46%,548 H. TSCHUDY DTJXWIHG FRAME FOR SPINNNG MACHINERY Filed NQV. 3 1921 ineens of links or the like.
Patented Oct. 2, 1923.
HEINRICH TsoHUDY, or pnNENDA, SWITZERLAND.
IXBAVTING FRAME F63 SPINNING MACHINERY.
To all whom it may concern:
T'Be it known that I," HEINRICH TsoHUDY, a citizen-of the -Republic of Switzerland, and residing1 "at Ennenda in `the Canton .of Glarus, Republic of witzerlandhave 1nvented certain new and useful Improvements in Drawing Frames for Spinning Machinery, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object to provide an improved roller weighting mecha.- nism, more particularly :for4 weighting the leather-cove`red frames and spinning frames. s
The method usually adopted for weighting` such pressure rollers consists in supportingweights directly, by means of hooks or the like from the rollers, or in connecting Weighted pivoted levers to the rollers byv The weights or levers may be connected respectivelyto each roller or maybe supported from a saddle which in turn is supported on two rollers.
For cleaning the rollers of the ily Which tends to accumulate upon them, light wooden cloth covered cleaning rollers, restinr upon the pressure rollers, are usually provi ed.
Such wooden cleanin rollers serve only for the purpose of cleaning the rollers, but it has been proposed to use a wooden cleaner roller for the two front pressure rollers only, which rollers are weighted inthe usual manner, and to support a cloth covered metal roller on the third of the pressure rollers, such metal roller serving the double purpose of cleaning the said third roller and 0f weighting it.
According to the prese-nt invention the only weighting of the pressurerollers is ell'ected by means of a single eavy cloth covered cleaning roller, such roller resting upon the front or the two front pressure rollers.
This invention is illustrated in a constructional example in the accompanying drawing in which the improved roller-weighting mechanism of this invention is illustrated as applied to a rin frame.
In the improve roller weighting mechanism illust-rated, the light cleaning roller or shaft, is dispensed wlth and is re laced by a weighting roller B which has li ewise a cloth covering E but is considerably heavier, being mede, for instance, of iron or other metal Whose weight and dimensions pressure rollers of flyer are such .tliatzn spinning the requisite-presa still more certain manner than does the light Wooden roller.
lOw'i'grto the Acloth covering E, the imprfoyed iroller weighting mechanism has a velry elastic effect, and owing to the rolling friction, it causes orily the very slightest wearand tear of the preferably leathercover'ed pressure roller A, which is very edvalitageousA Each axle journal of the lieavy weighting' roller B bears against a strong guide C which isfixed adjustably on the side plate of the hind roller. This guide C has a forked supporti KK for receiving the wei hting,r roller B when the pressure roller i is relieved of weight.
At its front end the guide C has an adjustable supporting screw C2.
From the above, description itwill be perceived that the improved mounting of the rollers considerably simplifies the construction of the spinning frame owing to the elimination of runny parts and that the pressure roller, instead of being under sliding friction as before, is new under rolling friction with consequent economy of power, and that it receives the weighting pressure in an elastic manner, so that, owing to the considerably diminished wear und tear, it has a much longer life.
A further advantage is that the weighting roller can be removed without having to detach any parts. lith this improved roller weighting mechanism there are less bleakages of the yarn than before and consequently a better thread or yarn is obtained than has hitherto been possible.
In spinning machines with horizontal drawing frames the U-shaped metal guides are eliminated and the roller may be guided i in the vertical guide and held on two rollers in which case a friction IVhat I claim is: l. In a drawing frame, the combination with a front pressure roller, of a top-clearerroller resting upon the said roller and of suflicient weight to supersede the usual weights and appel-taining devices.
In a drawing frame, the combination of pivots is relieved.
lll
.Y with l. front pressure roller and the framing clearer and weighting-roller in the inoperal0 of said drawing frame, of a 'to -clearer itive position of the latter. of suieent weight to supersede t e usual In testimon'l whereof I have aixed my weights and appertaning devices, a metal signature in t e presence of two witnesses.
i i e member of U-shape whereof one side- 1mb serves as a ide for said top-clearer HEINRICH TSCHUDY' and weighting-101er, und its other side- Witnesses: A limb is ormed at its free end as a bear- CHR. MILLIEN,
ing adapted to receive end support said HERMANN TEUnon.
