The corset'm'ade' in accordance with this invention is preferably a closed baclr garment, although, as will be understood, the invention isnot limited'tolus e in'a closed back corset. The corsetiis constructedwith the front members each comprising'a front steel section, a sectioniof yielding fabric'orother similar material between each front steel section and the adjacent portion of the body of the garment, which yieldingsection preferably extends from the upper to thelower edge ofthe garment, together with adjust ingtension and supporting devices extending from approximately the waistline to the 40 groin section ofthe wearer and so embodied inthe garment as to be readily adjustable to position in a manner similar to that described in my application aforesaidf In the garment made. in accordance with this invention,however, the lower front portions of these adjusting tension and supporting devices are connected .to the lower extremities of the front steels, and there are overlying extensions depending.v from the front steel sections which assume a substantially 's'traight'line position, while the lower "edges of the adjusting tensionand supporting evices are made-to conform to the groin sec 'tion of the wearer, and inbeingadjusted to position exert a tension against the lowerex tremiti'es'of the front steel to form a continuous pressure against the groin section of the wearer to provide a more adequate support therefor than is obtained by the use of the garment; as shown and described in my aforesaid application.

The front. steel section 10 includes an extension 14: and the front steel section 11 a corresponding extention 15. These extensions of the front steel sections overlie the lower extremities of the corset steels and are entirely free therefrom from predetermined distances above the lower edges there of which, for. example, may be indicated by thelines 16*and 17, whereas the lower ends of the corset steels are indicated respective ly at 18and 19. In a suitable position in these extensions let and 15 of the front steel sections I may employ a clasp 2O bywhich the edges are connected to one another; and also in these extensions of the front steel sections I prefer to employ eyelets 21 through which a lace 22 is threaded for drawing together-and securing in position the lower extremities of these overlying ex tensions of the front steel sections.

Inasmuch as the front sections of the garnient are similarly constructed but one of these will be specifically described. These front sections include yielding members 23 and 24c made of elastic fabric or other simi lar material and of predetermined width extending from the upper to the lower edges of the garment and connecting the front steel sections with the body portions thereof. In each front. portion of the garment I employ an adjusting tension and supporting device. Each of these-comprises an adjusting strap 25 which is connected to the front steel section and at they lower end thereof to the front steel'so that a portion of the front steel section overlies. a portion, that 'is the lower portion of the adjusting strap 25. This adjusting strap 25 extends from the lower end of the front steel to approximately the waistline of the garment and is secured to the front steel sectionand the cover of the front steel in any suitable manner The opposite edge of the adjusting strap 25 is provided with eyelets26. Associated with the adjusting strap 25 is an anchor strap 27. This is provided with eyelets 26 corresponding in number with the eyelets28 and the adjusting strap and a lace.

As indicated in the drawlng, each ad usting tension and sup porting device underlies the yielding fabric section at the front of the garment, and as clearly indicated in Fig. 2 the lower endof the adjusting strap 25 may. be provided with a reinforcing strip 32 which in this instance is'secured thereto by suitable rows of stitching indicated at 33.

I claim as myinvention:

1'. In an apparel corset and in each'front portion thereof, a, front steel section, an elastic section between the front steel. section and the adjacent portion of thebodyof elastic fabric section between thehfrontsteel section andthe adjacent portion of the body of the garment extending from the upper to the lower edges thereof, an adjustable inelastic supporting devicecoextensive circuniferentially with the elastic fabric sectionand extending substantially from the waistline to the groin section on the inner side of the garment, and a front skirt exten tion overlying the lower. end of the front steel section.

5. In an apparel corset and in each front portion thereof, a front steel section, an elastic fabric section extending between the front steel section and the adjacent portion of the body of the garment and also from the top to the; bottom edges thereof, an

inelastic strap secured along one edgeto the: front steel section extending upwardy from the lower end thereof, an inelastic strap 7 secured along one edge to the forward section of the body of the garment along a portion of the adjacent edge of the elastic section, the said straps extending from approximately the waistline to the groin section of the garment, a lacethreaded through the adjacent edges of the said straps and passing to the outer side of the for adjusting the said straps relatively to positionin adjusting the garment on the body of the wearer, and a front skirt extension overlying the lower end of the front steel section.
