UNITED STATES COMBINATION TOOL.
Application filed December 9, '1920. Serial No. 429,371.
To all whom it ma concern. Be it known t at 1, MICHAEL WASSETH a citizen of Lithuania, residing at New Haven, county of New Haven, and State ofi Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Tools, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in tools, particularly so-calledv combination tools combining a number of useful implements in one tool.
It is the principal object of the invention to provide a tool of this character adapted for rapid and easy manipulating and for accommodating various uses.
The invention embraces certain improved instrumentalities set forth in detail hereinafter and recited in the appended claim.
In the drawing forming a material part of this disclosure,
" Figure 1 is an edge view of the tool constructed according tothe present invention, and
' Fig. 2 is a side view thereof.
The tool comprises a hollow frame constituting a shank or handle provided with lateral plates 11 held in place by rivets 12.
At one end the tool is shaped to form a avrench 13 to accommodate nuts of various sizes as indicated at 14, 16 and 17, the ex: treme lower end being formed into a hammer head 18.
The opposite end is shaped to form the jaws 19 and 20 of a monkey wrench, the movable jaw 20 of which shows the customary shank 21 extending into the hollow frame 10 and provided at its lower end with rack teeth 22 adapted to be engaged by a milled collar 23 to cause the longitudinal adjustment of the shank in both directions.
The movable jaw is shaped at its extreme outer end to form a claw-hammer 2a, while its lower face near said extreme outer end is corrugated and formed as indicated 65 at 25 in order to form with a corrugated projection 26, secured in the stationary jaw 19, a wrench.
- e upper edge of the movable jaw 20 is indented as at 27 and the lower edge of 6310 the stationary jaw 19 as at 28 to form wrench sockets. v
The extreme inner end of the shank 21 carries a screw-driver 29, the extreme end or bit of which projects into a transverse intersecting work-receiving aperture 30 in the side plate 11 for engagement with a tapadapted to be introduced through said aperture 30. If taps of smaller dimensions are to be engaged, a screw 31 is provided for $0 this purpose, as shown in Fig. 2.
Having thus described my invention what, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows- A tool comprising a hollow handle hav-- ing a transverse intersecting work-receiving aperture, a shank slidably mounted in the handle, a screw-driver bit carried by the shank, a means for holdin work pieces of small dimensions in said aperture, and means for effecting longitudinal adjustment of the shank to project the screw-driver bit into the aforementioned aperture. y
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
MICHAEL WASSETH.
