T 0 aZZ w ham it may concern Be it known that I, Tnnononn Gnoon, a citizen of the United States, residing at Webster, in the county of Burnett and State of YVisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Portable Clothes Baskets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention'relates to a clothes basket construction and more particularly to a portable basket and has for its priiinary object a construction whereby the labor of lifting the basket or dragging the same over the ground will be eliminated.
An object of the invention is to support the basket by wheels so as to reduce the effort necessary in moving the basket from place to place and to so support the wheels that they may be folded into very compact space so that the basket will. not-o0 cupy very much space when not in use.
A. feature of my invention is the substan tial manner of constructing and associating the parts so as to increase the life of the basket.
WVith these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation.
Fig. 2 is an end elevation.
Fig. 3 is a plan View of the wheels in a folded position.
Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view with the wheels in folded position.
The remaining figures are detailed views.
Again referring to the'drawings illustrating one of the many constructions of my invention the numeral 1 designates any suit-- able construction of basket to the bottom of which is secured a base 2. This base is provided with depending sides 3 for the purpose hereinafter described. The numerals a and 5 designate side frames which have a hinge connection 6 with the base, and the size and design of these parts are such that the frames may fold in flat arrangement within the base so that the strap 7 may be passed around and form a fastener for holding the frames in a folded position. These frames rotatably support the wheels 8.
Brace members 9 and 10 are hinged to the side frames as indicated at ll and have their ends 12 constructed to have over-lapping relation so that the thumb screw 13 can clamp the ends together and thereby prevent the accidental, dislocation of the members so that the side fran'iesmay be rigidly held in an extended position.
liixtending from the base are standards A to which are connected the handles 15 for moving the basket from place to place.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying draw ings it wiii be seen that I provide a novel form of basket that may be moved from place to place with very little effort, and the various parts are so designed and connected that they may be quickly and substantially moved to an operative position or just readily folded so as to minimize space.
It is, of course, to be understood that tie various parts may be constructed and arranged in other relations than illustrated and, therefore, I do not desire to be limited tip) in any manner except as. set forth in claims hereunto appended.
laying thus described my invention what I claim is: y
1. A clothes basket comprising a basket body, a base secured to the bottom thereof and having depending sides, wheels swing ingly supported to swing to a folded position between the sides, a single strap for holding the wheels in such position, a two part foldable brace, said parts having an interfitting connection at their ends when extending and a bolt for locking the parts when eXten-deded.
2. A clothes basket having a depending base, a pair of side frames swingingly supported by the base, wheels supported thereby and a two part brace having its parts pivoted to said frames and constructed to be connected together to hold the frames in an extended position.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
