A. M. BENNETT SPLINT Filed Nov. 8. 1922 awucmtog Patented July 17, 1923.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ALEIANTDER M. BENNETT, F BELLAIRE. MICHIGAN. ASSIGNOB TO FRANK BENNETT. OF PONTIAC, MICHIGAN.
SPLINT.
Application filed November 8, 1822. Serial No. 599,687.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER M. BEN New, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bellaire, in the county of Antrim and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Splint, of which the following is a ecification.
invention relates to splints for use upon the procreative male organs to facili- (ate the performance of their natural functions, one of the objects being to provide a splint that can be worn with comparative comfort and can be placed in and removed from sition readil Witli the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accom anying drawings ferred form of t e invention has e In saiddrawings- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the splint.
Figure 2 is a plan view thereof.
Figure 8 is an enlarged section on line 3-3, Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a section on line 4-4, Figure 1.
Referrin to the figures b characters of reference, idesignates an ongated shank having a flat upper face while the bottom and sides of the shank are rounded transversely, as shown. The shank is enlarged abru tly at one end to provide a base or seat 2 whlch does not, however, project above the flat face of the shank. The shank is gradually increased in width away from this base and the end of the Hat face is rounded transversely, as at 3. The side and bottom faces of the shank taper to this rounded end 3, as shown.
Formed in the sides of the shank 1 near the end 3 are longitudinal grooves 4 and opening; 5 are formed in the flat face 0 the s ank 1 near the end 8 and open into the respective grooves. Another opening 6 the pre en shown.
is formed within the flat face of the shank and opens into the grooves 4, this 0 ening 6 being located at the forward en of a groove 7 formed longitudinally within the intermediate portion of the Hat face of the shank 1. This groove 7 merges into a longitudinal passage 8 extending through the shank and to the back end thereof.
A cord 9 is threaded throu h the oponin s 5 and into the grooves 4. 'Fhe ends of the cord are then passed through the opening 6 and longitudinally within the groove 7 and passage 8. Thus there is provided a loop 10 above the fiat face of the shank and close to the end 3.
In using the device the shank is placed in sition with loop 10 embraci the organ act: of the corona glandis. 'he cord is then tightened without causing discomfort and shank 1 is placed with the base or enlargement 2 close to the body. The ends of the cord are then tied about the body. thus com leting the attachment of the device.
but is claimed is:
A splint of the character described including a transversely rounded shank havin a base or enlargement at one end. the otlier end being rounded transversely, there being a passage in the base end portion of the shank and grooves in the sides of the shank near the other end thereof, said shank ha a fiat face throughout its length formed with a longitudinal groove merging into the passage and spaced 0 nings extendin to the side grooves. an an attaching cord threaded through the openings, grooves and and providin an intermediate attac ing oop extending rom the flat face of the shank and free ends extending from the base.
In testimony\ that I claim the foregoing as my own, I ave hereto aflixed my signature in the resence of two witnesses.
A EXANDER M. BENNETT.
