entree stares tarsal PATENT @FFlQE.
.ORNAIVIENTAL FABRIC.
Application filed July 11, 1921. Serial No. 483,919.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CAPTOLIA JENKINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Guthrie, in the county of Todd and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an Ornamental Fabric; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The object of the invention is to provide a fabric which may be used in the construction of wearing apparel for exhibition and show purposes as regalia or forming parts thereof, show covers or cloths for horses on exhibition and the like-and with this object in view the same consists of a construction and combination of parts of which a pre ferred embodiment is shown in the drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view of a section of fabric embodying the invention.
Figure 2 is a view of a single unit thereof.
Figure 3 is a view showing two of the units connected as in the course of producing the fabric.
Figure 4 is an edge view of the construction shown in Figure 3.
The fabric consists essentially of a, plu rality. of units 10 which in the construction illustrated constitute circular disks, each of which is imperforate except for a plurality of openings or perforations 11 for engagement by flexible loops or connectors 12 of textile material and consisting of cords, ribbons or the like. Said disks are constructed'of metal, bone or any like material or substance, either polished, dull or of any preferred color or of varied colors to suit the character or the object of the article to be constructed therefrom. Openings 11 of each dislr'are equidistantly spaced from the center of the disk and from each other and relatively close to the margin of the disk. The connectors are of loop form as best shown in Figure 4 and the strands forming them have their ends connecteo or tied into ornamental knots or pom poms at l3.- Two connectors pass through each opening 11. The groups of connections present the appearance of rectangles or endless elements substantially in checkered relation to the disks 10.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is An ornamental fabric having disks, each disk being in a single piece and provided with a plurality of openings therethrough equidistantly spaced from the center of the disk and from each other and relatively close to the margin of the disk, each disk aside from the openings therethrough being substantially imperforate, connectors of textile material for the disks, said connectors in pluralities passing through each opening, each connector being a strand having its ends ornamentally connected together, and the connectors being in groups topresent the appearance of endless elements substantially in checkered relation with the disks,
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
. h r CAPTOLIA JENKINS.
