This invention comprehends the provision of a smokers ipe, wherein the smoke passage leading om the bowl to the mouth piece is of zig-zag format on, for the dual purpose of preventing sahva entermg the smoke passa e and finding its way to the as well as to allow the smoke ample time to cool before entering the mouth of the user.

The nature and advantages of the Invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the acompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as claimed.

The smoke passage which establishes communication between the bowl 10 and the mouth piece 13 is of zig-zag formation, and

Another portion 18 of the passage extends downwardly from the upper edge of the pipe and is curved as at 19 into aline with the passage 20 provided in the section 12 of the Serial No. 478,650.

The cap directs the smoke from the pocket 17 into the passage 18. An additional cap of similar construction is indicated at 28 and closes the adjacent ends of the bore 20 and the passage 22 of the mouth piece, and also directs the smoke from the bore 20 through the cut away portion 24 into the mouth piece.

Manifestly, by reason of the construction herein shown and described, the smoke leavingthe bowl 10 enters the portion 16 of the smoke passage and is conveyed to the pocket 17, at which point is deflected by the cap 25 into the passage 18 and conveyed through the stem of the pipe until it strikes the cap 28 which retards the flow, and causes the smoke to pass over the partition 23 through the cut away portion 24: into the passage 22 of the mouth piece. As illustrated the mouth piece 13 is arranged at an angle with respect to the section 12 of the stem, and consequently the saliva entering the mouth piece from the mouth of the user will seek its level in the curved portion 19 of the passage 18, and in this manner will be prohibited from entering the bowl 10. The bowl is always maintained in a clean condition, and when necessary the sections of the stem as well as the mouth piece can be readily separated to properly clean the same. If desired, the mouth piece can be detachably connected with the section 12 of the stem for the purpose just mentioned. In addition to preserving the pipe in a clean condition, the particular formation of the smoke passage also allows the smoke to cool before it enters the mouth of the user. The invention is very simple in construction and can be manufactured and sold at a very nominal cost.

While it is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit imyself to what is herein shown and described, and that such changes may be resorted'to when desired as fall within the S00 e of what is claimed.

A smokers pipe comprising a bowl, a stem, and a mouth piece arranged at an angle with respect to the stem and bowl, and said stem and mouth piece being provided with a zig-zag smoke passage beginning at the bowl inclined upwardly therefrom and opening into a pocket. a removable cap secured 'to said stem and adapted to overlie the pocket, thence the passage extends downwardly but communicates at its upper portion with the pocket through the medium of JACOB E.
