PAPER ENVELOPE R BAG.
Application med February as, 1921. serial No. 448,181.
To allwkomjtmy concern:
Be it known that we, JOHN W. BUNKEK and ASHTON M. BoNnY, residents of the city of New York, county of New York, and State of New York, citizens of the United States, have invented certain new and useful-l Improvements in Paper Envelopes 4or Bags, of which the following is a specifica' 'in paper'envelopes or ba and consists in a flap having a wirehan le fastened therein and means for securingthe flap in a closed position when desired. In the accompanying drawings,
Figure 1 is a viewin elevation; Figure 2 is a View with parts broken away;
F1 re 3 is a view showin the handle fastened to the lbody portion instead of to the'lap; and
F ig. 4 shows a modification. A, represents the bag or envelope and 1, 1s 4the Ila the numeral 2, .is the wire or sheet metal andle fashioned in the form of a loop for the linger or lingers of the person carrying the envelope.`
The ends of t e wire or metal loop are Our invention relates to an improvementl fastened to the ap with a reenforcing strip 3, and the eXtreme ends 4, are bent upwardll7 30 to prevent the metal loop from easily -pu ing out. l
In the modification in lieu of wire a loop is shown cut from thin sheet metal.
An ordinary paper fastener 6, may be eml ployedv to fasten the flap down over the opening of the envelope or receptacle.
This presents a simple form of merchandise receptacle having a handle as well as a means o fastening the top or flap. It is clear the handle might be'fastened ldirectly vto thebody as well as to the flap and our present invention contem lates such a construction as is shown in *igure 3.
We claim, The combination with a receptacle, of a handle in the form of a loop secured at the Openend thereof, the ends of said handle l bent upwardly to form hooks which hook beneath a portion of the material and a reenforcing strip attached to the envelo at the point where the handle is fastene In testimony whereof We hereunto ailix our signatures.
