- To allgwkgom it may concern:
' said eyes concaved, and with the eyes flared Be it known that I, Jnssn F. Magnum: a citizen of the UnitedStates, 'residiii' at Brooklyn in the county'of Kings and tate of New ork, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Double-Eyed Guides, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to guides for the strands of silk, cotton, and other textile materials, handled by knitting, braiding, and other textile machines.
My object is to provide a device of this character which may be used in any place,
opposite sides of the centre, with the two faces of the guide at the opposite ends of at their open ends to merge into, said concave surfaces.
The invention consists in the construction .of the device as a whole, resulting from the form and relative arrangement of the several parts thereof, as hereinafter particularly described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which: I
Fig. 1 is a horizontal section of my guide.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof.
Fig. 3 is a side elevation with the relative position of the guide'holder shown in dotted lines, and also with a diagrammatic representation in dotted lines of two strands or threads as they passthrough the eyes of the guide.
Referring further to the drawings, the numeral 1 indicates my device in its entirety,'which is preferably made of porcelain or other'vitreous material, and is proholders formed or spun a-Fig- 3g of 1 1. 9 drawings I li my'qm owed snid ll'ldiin with curved missus" tncare i racsj 4; 6r Eh.
bifurcated ends .6 sprung into the annular groove 2. The holder has an opening i at its lower endfor securing the same by means of a screw to a ting machine.
braiding or. 'k tl v Instead of the holder here illustrated,
guide may be inserted in the head of an eye-bolt if desired. a i
My guide cannot be accidentall removed from t e holder, nor can it be sha en therefrom by the vibration of the machine.
Attention is also called to the fact that wlth my-improved' gulde the eyes come on I opposite sides of the centrev ofthe holder, and are equidistant from said -centre,fland are spaced apart a distance approximately the same as the distance apart that the threads tend to the result or which:
is that the threads or strands a--a and 6- 6 of silk or cotton or other fibre, pass easily,
strain upon them. v Having described my claim as new and desire to protect Letters Patent is i 1.'In a device of the a guide comprising a body concaved on opposaid device having two eyes extending transversely therethrough on diametrically opposite sides of the. centre and in a horizontal plane, said eyes being flared at their open ends and merged into said concave faces, with means for removable engagement with l said intermediate surface being provided a holder for the guide.
2. Ina device of the character-described,
a guide comprising a double concave-body providedon its edge with means for engagement with a yielding guide holder.
3. In a device of ,thecharacterdescribed,
a guide comprising'a body having a groove extending around the same for engagement character described,
so i and directly through the eyes withoutlateral invention, what .site SlCl6S l3h6I'80f with an intermediate sur-f, i it face connecting said sides atftheir margins;
vided with a peripheral groove 2, and has two eyes 3 on diametrically opposite sides of the centre, the two sides of the device at the open ends'of said eyes being concaved, with the two eyes somewhat flared at their open ends to cause the same to merge gracebody for the simultaneous passage therethrouIgh of a plurality of threads. i p 4-.
65 a guide comprising a circular bodyflhavingl with a guide holder; and a plurality"of-.105 eyes extending transversely through said,
n a device of'the characte d r I a plurality of eyes for the simultaneous passage therethrough of a plurality of threads; and a peripheral roove for engagement with a yielding gulde holder.
5. In devices of the character described, a guide comprising a circular body having its periphery provided with a groove for engagement with a holder, and having its faces on opposite sides of its periphery concaved and provided with a plurality of eyes extending through the guide from one face to the other. i
6. In devices of the character described, a guide comprising a circular body having its periphery provided with a groove for engagement with a holder, and having its faces on opposite sides of its periphery concaved and provided with a plurality of eyes extending through the guide from one face to the other, said eye s being flared at their ends to merge into the concave faces of the guide.
In testimony whereof I atfix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
