'To {rituele/oni, 'it mdif/ concern.'
lie it known that l, .linten un l-l. limoni; a eitizen ot the llnited tdtatee7 residing; et l-loriston, in the county oi lilarrie end tritate oi rJlemie, have invented certain new and useful l'niprorerneute in lice lleceptacleei, ot which the :following a specification.
'lliis invention relates to retrigerating apparatus, and has t'or one or its objects to improve the construction and increaee the eiliciency and utility of the ice hi'ildingn por` tions et devices oi this character.
l/Vith these and other objecte in View the .invention consists in certain novel jieaturee oi' construction ae hereinai'fter shown and described and their eiieoiiirelly pointed out in tbe claiine and in the (irawinge illustraw tive oit the prei-erred embodiment oi the in- Vention;-
Figure l is a longitudinel Section oi' the ice chamber portion et a relrigeratinp; apparatuslot the character employed in retail stores tor the storage sind display et articles oi" 'food to which the improved device is incre particularly applicable with the improved ice holders disposed therein.
Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 et llig. 1.
liig. 3 is an end elet/*ation ot one torni et the improved ice holders.
Fig. f-l is a plan View oit the torni et ice holder shown in Fig. 3.
Fig". 5 is an enlarged sectional det-oil illuetretinp; the coupling between the body portion und the riin portion oit the torio ot ice holder shown in Figs. 3 and Il.
Fig. 6 is a sectional detail illuetratinonF the :onstruction oi' the corner clips for the ice holder structure.
Figs. 7 and 8 are enlarged deteile illustratinps1 a modified construction oi tbe ice holder.
liig'. 9 ie an enlarged perspective View ot one ot the corner holding clips.
The improved devicerney be employed in connection with reirigerating devices oit `rarioue lrinds, but is incre particularly adapted :tor use in the clasel oit cold storage counters employed in retail stores `tor the reception and display oli articles olf :tooth ond for the purpose ot illustration shown thee employed. p
llie combined counter and dieple-y receptecle ie generally *formed ot an intermediate toed reoeiying portion having,1 a Erlass top .l and glaee iront, not shown, and 'with a eloeed insulated bottoni ll end bach: ith
Flerial lilo. 531,376.
:ind u. cloeed ice chamber at one or both ends, the latter having; ineulated Walls 13 :nid cold air passages ld between the ice chamber and the toed receiving chamber. r.the ice clniniber ie prorided With a door l at its 'iront to provide access thereto.
llit ifling between the rear Iand front 'mills or' the ice chamber and near the side Walls ere ruil inenibere Il@ attached by brackets l? to the inner laces and front Walls, as shown.
'lbe rails le proriiile combined supports and guidee ifor novel terme ot ice holders or baskets, oooh holder 'including an oblong traino with the rneinber` l..-sha.ped transrersi-ily and with two oi' the opposite :treme members bearing upon the rails and supported thereby.
'llie body ot the receptacle or basket portion le preferably lioriined or woven Wire or inetal etripe as nniy be preferred and represented' conventionally at i9, and rolled at their upperl edges around an endless binder rod 20, the latter being1 large enough to reet upon the upper horizontal web of the freine le, is represented in Figs. 3, fi sind 5.
'llie body portion i9 of each receptacle is iorined troni e single oblong sheet or section oit' the woven materiel, preferably ot inetol stripe, as shown, with the corners ot the sheet cut out to produce a central portion and ilfour lateral portions and bent at right angles to the central portion, the central portion termine; the bottoni and the .lateral portion forming the sidee and ends et' the receptacle.
dt their juncture the edges oit the bent up portions are united by clips 2l at suitable, interi/ale.
The clip devices are constructed as shown initially in 9, and inserted through the intersticee in the woven materiel next to the adjacent edges and the terminals 22 bent over apaiuet the adjacent portions ot the woven editorial, as represented in Figs. d and ly thie ineane a etronri` and durable receptacle is -glirovided Which may be constructed oi? any suitable Size or materiel and which may be utilized to contain ice or ice coinbinocl with roclr salt, to serve as a rej 'igerant to the air Within the ice chambers, and which iney be readily rernoyed and inserted. through the opening closed by the door lli oi the rear The frame 18 being separate and distinct Jfrom the body of the basket or holder, the latter can be separated therefrom for cleansing or repairs.
The receptacles or baskets may be of any size or capacity and any required number may be employed within the ice chamber.
In Figs. 7 and 8 a slight modiication in the construction is shown consisting in substituting for the continuous frame 18 two rail members 2Q, preferably of l.-bars, and connected at their ends by rods rlhe Vertical webs of the members 22 are provided with spaced slots or apertures 211 through which the upper ends of the adjacent memb ot which the body portion of the basket is 'formed are clinched as shown at 25, while the upper ends of the basketl members adjacent the rods 23 are rolled around the latter as shown in Fig. 7.
rlhe members 22 rest upon the rail members 16 in the same manner as the Jframe members 18 rest upon the structure shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 5.
The modified structure may be employed under certain conditions but does not constit-ute a departure from the principle of the invention or sacrifice any of its advantages.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is disclosed in the drawings and set :t'orth in the specification, but it will be understood that modifications within the scope olf the claimed invention may be made in the construction without departing lfrom the principle of the invention or sacrificing any o its advantages.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is An .ice receptacle havingF woven metal walls, a binder for the upper edge oit the receptacle comprising spaced end rods over which the vertical strands of the ends of the woven walls are rolled. and spaced 'side members each perforated to receive the ends of the rods and apertured to receive the vertical strands o the sides of the woven walls.
ln testimony whereof, I aflix my signature hereto.
