Description

Apr. 17, 1923. IASZJWZ T. YAMAMOTO INTERLOCKING SPLICE FOR THREADS OF TWO STRANDS Filed May 5, 1922 Takejiro Ymamoto iNVEHTOR \a/lTHESSES ATTORHEY Patented Apr. 17, 1923.
STATE PATENT @FFHQE.
TAKEJIRO YAIVIAMOTO, OF NISHINARI-GUN, OSAKA, JAPAN.
Application filed May 3,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, TAKJEJIRO YAMAMOTO, subject of the Emperor of Japan, residing at 29 Hori, Kamitsu-Wura, Nishinari-gun,
Osaka, Japan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Interlocking Splices for Threads of Two Strands, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in an interlocking splice for threads of two strands, and is especially adapted to be used in uniting the threads to form a net. In the splice which constitutes my invention, each strand of one thread crosses each strand of 4 16the other thread at two points so that the strands of both threads form four crossings.
The general object of the invention is the production of a splice which will not be easily loosened or displaced, thus resulting 20 in a strong and durable net.
The invention will be best understood from the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows a pair of threads interlocked according to the invention, with the strands separated in order to illustrate their relation. s
Fig. 2 is a view showing the splice after the threads have been drawn taut.
Referring more specifically to the drawing, a designates a thread made of two strands 1 and 2, twisted together in the usual manner, and b designates another thread composed of two strands 3 and 4-.
The two threads 0; and b are interlocked to form a splice as shown in Fig. 2.
In forming my improved splice, each thread a and b is twisted for the desired length, and the strand 1, of the thread a is crossed with the strand 3 of the thread 6;
1922. Serial No. 558,233.
next, the strand 2 of the thread a is crossed with the strand 4 of thread I); next, the strand. 1 of thread a is crossed again with the strand 3 of thread Z),- and finally, the strand 2 of thread a is crossed with the strand 4 of thread 6.
Thus, each strand of one thread intersects at two points with each strand of the other thread, so that the strands of both threads form four crossings at the points A, B, C and D, respectively.
After the splice is thus completed, each thread beyond the splice is again twisted for the proper distance, where it is again spliced with another thread.
In nets heretofore constructed, where the juncture of the threads has been made by a single braid knot, the same becomes easily loosened, and after the nethas been in use for some time, the knot becomes displaced so that the size and shape of the meshes become altered. This invention, therefore, is designed to correct this deficiency. In a net constructed like the present invention, the strands cross each other at four points in each splice, so that the union is very strong and the strands are securely held so that they cannot be displaced even after long use.
What I claim is An interlocking device for threads of two strands, in which each strand of one thread crosses each strand of the other thread at two points, whereby the strands of both threads form four crossings, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
TAKEJIRO YAWAMOTO.
Witnesses T. KUsABA, JAMES ORR DENBY.
