Description

- W. F. BARNARD STATI ON STOP DEVI GE Filed May 1, 1922 grwentoc ifatented Apr, iii, i923.
nvirsa STATION STOP DEVICE,
Application filed. May 1, 1922. Serial No. 557,768.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, lVILLIAM F. BARNARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Marion, in the county of Grant and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Station Stop Device, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to changeable exhibitors, and more particularly to a changeable exhibitor especially designed for advertising purposes.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a housing, rolls supported withinthe housing and a web mounted on the rolls to be fed from one roll to the other, displaying portions thereof before a sight opening of the housing Another object of the invention is to provide means for operating the rolls by frictional contact with operating rolls, novel means being provided for holding the web supporting rolls into engagement with the operating rolls.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a changeable exhibitor constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is an. end elevational view of the exhibitor, parts thereof being broken away.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the device embodies a housing formed of side bars 5, a rear wall 6, the front portion of the housing being left open to permit the web, to be hereinafter more fully described, to be displayed.
The side bars 5 and rear wall 6 have con nection with the upper and lower walls 7 and 8 respectively, as through the medium of the bolts 9. The side bars 5 are formed with openings to accommodate the shafts 10 and 11 respectively, which shafts support therollers 12 that frictionally engage the rollers 13 on which the web 14 that carries the advertising matter is mounted.
Supported on each of the shafts 10 and 11 is a pulley 15, the pulleys of the shafts being connected by means of the belt 16 which is shown as operating thereover, a suitable handle 17 being rovided for operating the shaft 10, from which motion is imparted to the shaft 11 through the pulleys and belt 16.
Supported on the base or lower wall 8 are bracket members 18, each of which has an inwardly extending pivot pin 19, which pivot pins support the frames 20 that in turn support the rollers 13. Similar brackets 21 are secured to the upper wall of the housing and have pivot pins 22 for supporting the inverted U-shaped frames 23, which in turn supports the roller 24.
Coiled spring members 25 have connection with the frames 23 and rear wall 6 of the housing to normally urge the rollers 13 and 2% into close engagement with the rollers 12 mounted within the housing.
Thus it will be seen that as the rollers 12 are operated, movement is imparted to the rollers 13 and 2 to wind the web thereon. Tn order that the rollers 13 and 2 may be readily and easily removed, bearing mem bers 26 are carried by one arm of the respective frames, an adjustable bearing member 27 being positioned in the opposite arm of the respective frames, the rollers beinr: positioned between the bearing members: clearly shown by Figure 1 of the drav In the operation of the device, the handle 17 is operated in a predetermined direction, whereupon the web 14.- which contains the advertising matter, is unrolled from one roller and wound on the opposite roller, with the result that the advertising matter contained on the web is displayed through the front or open portion of the housing.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
In a device of the class described, a housing comprising side bars, upper and lower walls having connection with the side bars at the ends of the side bars, a rear wall having connection with the upper and lower walls, rollers supported between the side bars, said rollers having shafts extending through the side bars, pulleys on the shafts, a belt moving over the pulleys and communicating motion from one pulley to the adjacent pulley, Ushaped frames, bracket members carried by the upper wall and lower Wall, pivot pins supported by the bracket members and extending through the U-shaped frames to pivotally support the frames, rollers supported by the U-shaped 5 frames and adapted to normally engage the first mentioned rollers, a web operating over the pivoted rollers, and coiled springs having connection with the U-shaped frames and having connection with the rear Wall to hold the pivoted rollers into engagement 10 with thefirst mentioned rollers.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in; the presence of two Witnesses.
