HAT nonnnn. a 25 F Application filed. April 15, 1922. Serial No. 553,088.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GULDIN citizen of the United States, residing at Boy- 'ertown, in the county of Berks, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Hat Holder; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to hat holders for use in connection with automobiles, and has for its object to provide a device of this character comprising a bracket adapted to be attached to. a portion of the automobile,
preferably the automobile top. Also to provide the device with looped members formed from spring wire and spaced from each other, between which members the hat brim may be disposed with the crown extending through one of the looped members, thereby securely holding the hat.
A further object is to provide one of the looped members with a semi-circular shaped member at its outer end for the reception of a visor of a cap when a cap is being held.
With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the in vention.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of one end of 'thebracket showing another form of securing means.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the bracket showing a further form of securing means.
Referring to the drawings. the numeral 1 designates a bracket, which bracket is provided with apertures 2 for the reception of screws. whereby the same may be attached to a portion 3 of an automobile. The end 4: of
the bracket 1 is provided with a right angled portion 5 having apertures 6 therein. Extending through the apertures 6 and apertures 7 in the end 4 of the bracket 1 are the portions 8 of a wire 9 after the loop .10
. has been. formed. The portions 8 of the G. Yoonn, a
When it is desired to hold a cap, the visor of the cap may be passed under the loop 15 carried by the loop 10 and the cap will be held between the loops 10 and 11. Referring to Figure 2 wherein a different form of securing means is shown, the end 16 of the bracket 1 is provided with a semi-circular shaped portion 17 for the reception of the bow 18 of an automobile top or for any other substantially round portion of the automobile. Cooperating with the semicircular shape portion 17 is a similarly shaped portion 19 of a plate 20, which plate is securely attached to the bracket 1 by means of the set screw 21.
Referring to Figure 3 the bracket 1 is provided with a right angularly shaped flange 22 through the aperture 23 of which a screw may pass for securing the brackets to a support 24, which may be any portion of the automobile body or top.
From the above it will be seen that a hat holder or hanger is provided which is particularly adapted for use in automobiles, and the loops 10 and 11 are formed from a single piece of spring wire thereby allowing the device to be easily and cheaply manufactured and standard spring wire to be used.
The invention having been set forth what is claimed as new and useful is 1. A hat holder comprising a bracket, means wherebysaid bracket may be attached to a support, said bracket terminating in a right angularly disposed portion having spaced apertures adjacent apertures in the bracket, a hat receiving loop formed from a single piece of wire, the ends of said wire extending through the adjacent apertures in the right angled portion and the bracket, said wires terminating in segmentally shaped portions in parallel relation to the hat receiving loop, means whereby the ends of the segmentally shaped portions may be detachably connected, and, an outwardly extending looped member carried by the first mentioned loop and forming means for receiving a hat visor.
2. A hat holder comprising a bracket, said bracket comprising a horizontally disposed arm and a vertically disposed arm having spaced apertures therein, spaced horizontally disposed hat holding loops carried by the bracket, said loops'being formed from a 10 single piece of Wire bent to form one of the loops and passing through the spaced aper-
