PASTEBOARD Box. Application filed April as, 1921. Serial No. 464,580.
To all whom z'tmay concern: and the top of" the inner-cover'2 can be Be it known that I, HANS SoHwENNnKn, a swung to cover the top of the box and'the citizen of the United States, and a resident flap 3 will swing inwardly parallel to the of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State top of the inner cover so that the flap 3,

I Crease 4 defining one edge of the portion 5 It will be thus clear that the outer cover 50 and crease 6 defining the lower edge of the of the box 10 can be removed and the inner flap 3 to be folded into a plane parallel with of the segment 5' and the flap 3 so that the t einner-cover 2. The drawings and descriptions thereof contemplate but one form of inner-cover employing the present invention, but it is to be understood that I do not wish to be limited to the exact structure shown, but desire to include and cover all modifications thereof as may readily be made in adapting it to various forms of pasteboard boxes and the like, in view of the subj oined claims.
I laim 1. In a pasteboard box or the like, a cover singly hinged from a side of the box having afolding pasteboard portion thereof which forms a supplemental hinge for the cover and which will unfold to form a means to liiiiit'the gyrationof the cover, the limit of gyration being beyond the line of the side of box to which the cover is hinged, so the angle between the inside face of the cover the inside face of the hinged side of the box will be more than one hundred and hty e re 2 In a pasteboard box or the like, a cover memberv "approximating the dimensions of theopenporti on of the box to be closed, but smaller. than the said opening, the said cover H eiiiberbeing singly hinged from a side of e box and having a folding portion therec-yof vthich will unfold to form means to limit the gyration of thecover, the limit of gyrationbeing beyond the line of the side of the box to whi h the cover is hinged, so the angle between the inside face of the cover and the insidefface of the hinged side of the box will'be more than one hundred and eighty egrees 3, In a pasteboard box or the like, a secondary cover member approximating the dimensions of'the open portion of the box to be clese'd, but smaller than the said opening, thesaid cover, member being singly hinged from'a side of the box and having a folding portion thereof which will unfold to form means'to limit the gyration of the cover, the limit of gyr'ation being beyond the line of the side of the box to which the cover is hinged, sothe angle between the inside face of the cover and the inside face of the hinged side of the box will be more than 180 degrees.
4, In a pasteboard box or the like an auxiliary cover member approximating the dimensions of the open portion of the box to be' closed, but smaller than the said opening, the said cover member being singly hinged from a side of the box and having a foldingportion thereof which will unfold to form means to limit the gyration of the cover, the
being beyond the line of the side of the box to which the cover is hinged, so the angle between the inside face of the cover and the inside face of the hinged side of the box will be more than 180 degrees, and a primary cover for enclosing 1tohe auxiliary cover and the opening of the 5. In a pasteboard box or the like, a sheet cover portion singly hinged from a side of the box having folding sheet flaps as an integral portion of the cover which said flaps form supplemental hinges for the cover and which will unfold to limit the gyration of the cover, the limit of gyration being beyond the line of the side of the box to which the said cover portion is hinged, so the angle between the inside face of the said cover portion and the inside face of'the hinged side of the box will be more than one hundred and eight degrees.
6. In a pasteboard box or the like, a cover portion and folding flaps therefor formed of a single sheet of material the said flaps forming supplemental hinges for the cover portion, the said cover portion singly hinged from a side of the box, creases defining the flaps for folding the faces of same generally parallel with the inside face of the cover portion, and means of attaching the flap portion to the box whereby when the cover portion is gyrated from its covering position the flaps will unfold an agency to limit the gyration of the cover portion, the said gyration being over ninety degrees from its covering position.

8. In a pasteboard box or the like, a cover portion having folding'fiaps the'said flaps forming supplemental hinges for the cover portion, the said cover portion singly hinged by a crease from a side of the box, creases defining the flaps of the cover portion and a side adjacent to the said first side, whereby the said flaps can be folded generally paral lel with the inside face of the cover portion so when the cover portion is gyrated from its covering position the flaps will unfold and form a limiting agency to restrain the cover portion from gyrating beyond a'predetermined angular distance, the said dis tance being over ninety degrees.
