JOHN F. RANDOLPH, OF EDWARDSBURG, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT IN REVOLVING SAMPLE-CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,924, dated Novcmber 25, 1873; application filed August 30, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J. F. RANDOLPH, of Edwardsburg, in the county of Cass and State of Michigan, have invented a new and Improved Revolving Sample-Case, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a vertical section of my revolving sample-case on the line C C, Fig. 2; and Fig. 2, a horizontal section of the same on the line a; 00, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention is an improvement in the class of revolving show-cases provided with detachable drawers or trays; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter described, and specifically indicated in the claim.
In the drawing, A represents the samplecase, made of wood, and having a hexagonal shape. It consists of a, base, B, with diagonally-arranged vertical partitions G, which are placed around and attached to a central shaft or support, forming thereby triangular subdivisions of the case. The partitions G taper off in pyramidal shape to the apex, and are horizontally connected by as many shelve-strips as the height of the case admits. The shelving consists of side strips a, which are placed at an inclination of from five to ten degrees to the base B and the central shaft, and slope down toward the outside for carrying and better exposing the articles placed into the metallic triangular trays D. The trays D are of larger and smaller size, according to their position in the case-larger at the bottom and smaller toward the top. The front connectingstrips 1) support the front part of the trays D, and prevent their slipping out of the case. The case A turns by means of a central pivot, d, which extends below base B in a supporting frame or socket, E, and may thereby be revolved into anydesired position for exhibiting the articles or taking out one of the trays, forming a very convenient and useful showcase for stores, show-windows, &c.
I do not claim, broadly, a revolving showcase provided with removable drawers or trays; but,
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Pat cut- The improved revolving show-case herein described, formed of the polygonal base B, the vertical partitions 0, arranged radially around the shaft, and the triangular removable trays D, supported between said partitions in an inclined position by side and front strips 64 b, all as shown and described.
