This pin is shown as having acylindrical shanlr flattened on one sidefso as to provide unequal lengths of its oppor-rite4 diameters, but the pin can be made oblong in shape in cross section if, desired. After the rail flange is fitted under the lips 2 and 3, the device is moved to the right as seen in Fig. l and the pin 6 is then inserted through the holes e, the short diameter of the pin extending transversely 0f the rail. When the pin is now turned by a suitable wrench the long diameter thereof will then he turned transversely of the rail and the sides of the pin will bear against the edge of the rail flange and theedge of the rib 5. This movement of the pin will thus draw the clamp firmly against the opposite edge of the flange and the device willbe rmly clamped to the rail. When it is desired to remove the clamp, the pin 6 need only be turned to bring its short diameter extending transversely of the rail when it can be removed clamp can be very quickly `placed in posiv tion and yjust as quickly removed. As stated,

A rail anchor comprising a member having a portion adapted to extend trans-- l versely beneath a. rail and having upstand-' ing ortions at each end' provided with lips over anging the top of the rail flange, one of said lips and said irst mentioned portion having aligned substantially vertical holes therethrough and a member extending lthrough'said holes having a section opposite the rail flange of unequal diameters, whereby the same can be turned to wedge against the rail and said member and clampthe latterin position. v
