To t may commu-.-
Be 1t known that l, HOWARD R. Moons, a citizen of the United States, residing at Norwalk, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a certain new and useful Improvenient in Articles of Manufacture, of which the following is a speciication.
My invention relates to woolens and has for its object to produce a woolen having au absolutely unique appearance, in which l attach a strand of worsted to the face 0f the wool in suc-h a manner that the. attaching means will be practically invisible and to provide means whereby woolens having a very wide variation in designs may be produced at a. minimum of expense, producing the same in as small a quantity as the manuyfacturer desires, whereas heretofore by will .be easily attained by referring weaving the Wool with different color schemes and combinations a relatively large amount would have to be produced. Then too the design can be brought out in lines and curves running in many directions within a. Small area that could not be produced by the loom, thereby enabling the manufac-v turer to supply an extraordinary number of designs of cloth without having to carry an enormous stock of piece goods. In addition to that feature, by the use of my invention, the manufacturer is placed in a position Where he can furnish a variation in color schemes which by reason of expense would otherwise be rohibitive. v
A clear understanding of the means by which I accomplish the foregoing objets to t ne accompanying d-rawingsfin connection with the specification to which the drawings are annexed and made a part of.
Fig. 1 isl an enlarged plan view of a frag.
ment of woolen cloth constructed in accordance with my improvement.
Fig. 2 vis a cross-metional view of the same.
As shown inthe ldrawings 1 indicates a fragment of woolencloth provided with a back 2 and a face 3. Upon the face of the cloth I' place a strand or strands of woolen worste'd 4 which is then attached to the face l of the c loth by'stitching it longitudinally of the worsted with thread '5 pre erably of the same color as the worsted 4. As the worsted 4 is verysoft the thread 5 sinks into 1t (or 1s counter-sunk therein) so that it is very diiii# cult to determine how my new article of manufacture is produced until its method of manufacture is explained, for the cloth has the appearance of just having the worstedd number of strands may be used and in any variety of colors which may be desired and` it also followsfthat any design. may be produced as my invention is not in' any particular design or color scheme, but in producing an absolutely new article of manufacture which may be briefly describedas wool on wool.
It will be apparent to persons skilled in` the art that by theuse offmy invention the manufacturer will be required to carry but a few standard pieces of wooland that he can send out samples of au innumerable number of designs and colors which he can su ply on very short notice and at a very slight expense.
Having described my invention what I regard as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. As a new article of manufacture, a body fabric having a loosely formed strand of material attached thereto by means of stitches extending longitudinally of said terial twisted together, secured thereto by means of stitches extending longitudinally of said member from the upper surface thereof, countersunk and substantially con\- sealed therein.
3. As. a new article of manufacture, a body fabric having a. loosely formed woolen strand of' material attached thereto by means of 'Stitches extending longitudinally of said strand from the upper surfacethereof, counter-sunk and substantially concealed therein. ln testimony whereof, I have signed the foregoing specification.
Hownan n. Moons.'
