Having indicated the several parts by relierence letters the construction and operation ot the device Will be readily understood:

In the event of an unauthorized person,
attempting to individually adjust the floating tuinblers to register with the arc-shaped slots in the stationary disc, by distorting the oscillating casting in which. t rey are housed either by a bleu7 ot a hammer or other means, so that the tuinblers niayl be held by friction against the Wall ot the casting when individually moved to secure registration with the arc-shaped slotsit Will be Yfound that the pressure applied to the enlarged heads ot the slidable stems lll, will cause the latter to slide through the tuinhlers Without changing the position oi the tu1nblers,- (see dotted lines in Figure l) the pressure of the springs H not being` suhicient to torce the tumblers to more with the stems as when operated under norinal conditions.

l. ln a lock; a housing; a disc secured against rotation Within the housing, provided with a plurality of arc-shaped slots, the ends ot each slot terminating in air enlarged bore open thereto; an oscillating casting sleeved within the housing having a spindle projecting through a central bore in the disc; a swinging latch secured to the spindle to engage a locking member; a plurality or' floating tumblers housed in bores in the oscillating casting and adapted to extend through the bores in the arc-shaped slotsl` having peripheral grooves adapted to register with the arc-shaped passage between said bores ot the disc; a slidable stein extending centrally through each ot' the floating turiblers; a cap plate secured to thc oscillating casting provided with a plurality ot apertures to receive the projecting lugs ot an operating key; springs incuntednpon the slidable stems adapted to bear against the tuinbler whereby upon applying prei sure to the Steins the tuinbl will be shi'lted a corresponding degree and an operating` lrey provided with a plurality ot' projecting lugs adapted to simultaneously bear upon the ends ot the several slidable stems, whereby the floating tuniblers may be adjusted that their peripheral grooves may register with the arc-shaped slots in the disc.
