Alle it known that I, FRANK STAFFORD, Statesyand a resident o l Newark, in the county of yEssex and State of New Jersey7 have invented a new and Improved Bracelet Coupling, of which the rollowinpis a full, clear, and exact description.

This .invention relates to jewelry and par ticularly to an improved coupling for tlexible bracelets, which is an improvement over my co-pending,` aiiplication, Serial No. 870,046, and has for an object to provide a construction which is simply and easily manufactured and which will properly hold together `partsoli the bracelet and at the same time allow the bracelet to flex in thedesired `reacting` therewith.

manner. l i l i Another object of the invention is to pro vde a coupling;` for holding together boxes of a flexible bracelet, the arrangement being such that the boxes are not only articulated but are prevented from twisting.

A further object of the invention is to provide a coupling which may be `stamped or formed out partially complete and thencompleted `after it has been placed in position so as to permanently lock the parts together ln the accompanying drawing-- Figure .l is a sectional view through Figure 2 on line ]4-l the same disclosingpart of the flexible bracelet with coupling means enobodyirngr the invention applied thereto.

` Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals l indicates boxes forming part ol a bracelet, said boxes being provided with openings 2 for receiving: stones to be set therein. and openings 3 through which the couplers 4lare passed.` The boxes l are bev eled or charnfered at 5 maybe formed into a circle or substantially a circle to properly fit the wrist of the person without separating the outer face.

As indicated in .Figure l the slots 3 elongate transversely so as to receive the flat body 7 of the coupler 4. A pair et shoulders 8 and 9 extend from one end of body 7 and are desijrned to engage one ot the boxes l while the end l() is collapsed or pressed into the shape shown in Figure l in order to produce projections orshoulders ll and l2 which co-act with the shoulders or projecs tions S and 9. This arrangement produces a simple coupling and one which cannot accidentally get out of order or become displaced while at the same time in View of the flat nature ot body 7, the respective boxes l cannot twist or independently rotate.

ln applying the couplers 4f they are inserted as shown at the right of Figure l and then the extremeend is pressed bv a suitable tool so as to collapse said end`\vliich end is provided with an opening 13 to permit said collapsing); to the position shown at the left in Figure l. This completed coupler thereilore presents a flat body with integral enlarr'en'lents or heads at each end.

ln Figure l/lwill be seen a slightly modilied 'torni oli coupler 4j in which opening u13 is elongated. This construction is designed more particularly lor very small boxes and the end carrying the openingl 13 must be spread. by the insertion ol a round or other suitable shaped tool before the apertured -eud canbe collapsed.

llt will be understood r f"courseR that the drawing shows all of the parts on a larger scale than is usually used, though for certain classes of work this size or even large couplings may be utilized.

What l claim is:

l. A coupler tor'tlexible bracelets and the like con'iprisinn' a `dat body formed with shoulders extending laterally beyond the edges of the body at one end and at the opposite end with a hollow collapsible eXtension so positioned that when collapsed itwill form shoulders also extending beyond the edges of the body.

2. A flexible bracelets und coupling, oompl-lslng a plurality of boxes, each box 11m/mg an opening n opposite Walls, and :x menobel` loosely mounted coupling so as to extend 5 through the openings of adjacent boxes, each of sald eoupllng` members eolnprlslng a body 'formed with a shoulder extending laterally FRANK R.
