1 Claim.

My present invention relates to the jewelry art, and more particularly to a novel construction of a bracelet.

The principal object of the present invention is to provide a bracelet having a novel link construction Another object of the present invention is to provide a bracelet having inter-connected stone settings with maximum flexibility.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a link bracelet that is simple in construction and easy and economical to manufacture and assemble.

With the above and other objects and advantageous features in view, my invention consists of a novel arrangement of parts, more fully disclosed in the detailed description following, in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, and more particularly defined in the appended claims.

Bracelets for evening Wear usually comprise a plurality of settings having real or imitation stones and closely connected by short links. This arrangement provides some flexibility, but the links are easily broken if the bracelet is flexed too greatly. Furthermore, because of the nature of the bracelet, manufacture and assembly are awkward. Usually, each setting is provided with oppositely disposed side openings and a plurality of settings are strung on a wire. The Wire is flattened within each setting and then cut. The entire operation must be carefully performed and is wearing on tools and provides a lot of waste.

The present invention is designed to overcome these difficulties and provide a simple and easy method of manufacture and assembly and a bracelet having a great degree of safe flexibility.

Referring more in detail to the drawings illustrating my invention, my bracelet comprises a plurality of settings connected by links H, each setting having an ornamental stone l2 therein. It should be noted that the settings It! may be of any desired shape to accommodate different stones i2. In the illustrated form, the diamond cut stone l2 requires a round setting I 0.

Each setting In comprises a bottom 13, Fig. 4, integral sides 14, and tines l extending integrally from the sides 14 to retain the stones [2 in place. The bottom l3 of each setting In is provided with a transverse slot l6 having a central annular portion l1 wider than the slot l6.

Each link ll, Fig. 5, comprises a central bar portion 18 bent upwardly at each end, and laterally extending heads I9 extending integrally from the bent ends of the portion I8. The heads [9 are shaped to fit the inner surface of the sides I4 of the settings it and in the illustrated form are arcuate in shape.

The above described settings and links may readily be formed from sheet stock. In assembly, a head IQ of a link I I is pushed upwardly through the slot I6 of a setting Ill. The link II is then easily twisted within the portion 51 of the slot and then turned until it assumes the position shown in Figs. 3 and 6. The head 19 is now snug against one side of the wall l4 and the bend in the bar portion l8 causes an ofiset, see Fig. 3, which permits the link to lie flat. A second link II is positioned similarly in the setting In opposite the first link II and settings and links are thus assembled until a complete bracelet is formed. The final links may be provided with a loop 20 and catch 2| for locking the bracelet to the wrist.

With the parts positioned as shown in Fig. 6, a stone I2 is placed in each setting [0 and the tines i5 bent inwardly to lock the stones in the settings, Fig. 1. As shown in Fig. 3, sufificient space exists between the stone l2 and heads l9 to permit movement of the heads upwardly to flex or bend the bracelet. However, the space is insumcient to permit twisting and withdrawal of the head. The stone thus provides a locking action.

While I have described a specific embodiment of my invention, it is obvious that changes may readily be made in the size, shape, or relative arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention as; defined in the appended claim.

I claim:

A bracelet comprising a plurality of settings, each of said settings having a radially extending slot in the bottom thereof, a plurality of links extending between said settings, each link comprising a narrow central portion having the end 4,5 portions thereof vertically offset and laterally projecting integral head portions extending from each end of the ofiset portions, said head portions being wider than said slots and the offset portions extending through said slots into said settings, and. an ornamental stone mounted in each setting, said stone extending into the setting and engaging the head portions to lock said links to said settings.
