Description

W. FELZER.
"Tread|es. No. 144,525. Patented N0v.11,1813.
UNITED "STATES bPATENT OFFICE. I
WILLIAM EELzEE, or FRANK HILL, MINNESOTA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TREADLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,525, dated November 11, 1873 application le October 17, 1873;
to the letters of reference marked thereon,
which form a part of this specilication.
This inventionhas relation to treadle-motion,
and consists of an improved device, so constructed as to act upon a double crank by means of two pitmen, which are soattached to the foot-board that, while one pitman is on the center the other is in a position to operate `the other crank by means of the foot-board, and vice versa; consequentlythe operatormay start the shaft from any position. l In the drawing, Figure lis a front elevation. Fig. 2 is an end view of the working parts, removed from the frame.
A is the table or frame, to which the working parts are attached. Bis a revolving shaft,
`. ""Wwhich is provided with two cranks, a a ,which "lstand opposite to each other. C is the footl board, which is pivoted at one of its ends in a loose-iitting stationary box, c, and at its' other end in a sliding box, j', which slides freely in a p To operate the device, place the foot upon the foot-board C, and by oscillating the same motion is given to the shaft B by means of pitmen b b', the operation causing the sliding box f to move up and down in the groove e, to accommodate the operations of the pitmen.
I am well aware thatscillating foot-boards and double cranks are well known; but
What I claim to be my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The foot-board C, provided with the stationary box c, movable box f, groove c, pins d d', and pitmen b b', in combination with the double crank a' a', and shaft B, substantially as hereinbefore set forth, and for the purpose specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 27th day of September, 1873.
