Be it known that I, Josnen F. Moinns. a citizen of the United States. residing, at West Lafayette. in the county of llippecanoe and State of lndiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in \Vash Machines, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a washing inachiue and has for its primary object to con st ruct an apparatus of this character capable of more efficiently washing clothes and in such a manner that the minimum amount of energy will be consumed.

An object of the invention is the provision of a basket for holding;- the clothes i such 3 construction that the clothes will be subject to a rubbinp action and besides to a continuous movement oi water so that all the dirt will be forced from the clothes both by the agitation of the water and the rub- 'bing action of the basket.

Besides the above my invention is dis tingnished in the use of an oscillatory mechanism for the basket capable of being qnickl connected :to and disconnecttal from the basket so that the latter may easily move to and be held in a position to allow the clothes to be arranged in the basket or removed therefrom.

\Vith these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein Figure l is a side elevation view of the machine.
