application filed. June 7,
metal box or container provided with awater spray pipe extending its entire length. The container is open at its top side and has I its bottom inclined and apertured at the conter to enable the water and contents of the box to be discharged.
In using my improved invention, the diaper or other article of clothing is held within the receptacle adjacent the spray of water whereby a preliminary cleaning results. a
The dimensions of the container are such as to makedt easily portable and in use it is adapted to be placed on the ordinary toilet bowl. The water from the spray pipe may be furnished through a rubber tubing or the like, connected preferably to a faucet.
The details ofthe invention will be made more apparent in the accompanying specification and drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of my improved washing machine,
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section thereof and, c
Fig. 3 is a transverse section. A
My invention consists primarily of a container formed preferably of galvanized iron and having a pair of side Walls 10 and a pair of end walls 11. The. container is open at its top sid while the bottom thereof is provided with a pair of inclined plates 12, inclined from the ends downwardly toward the center, and of such length as. to provide a discharge opening 13. By so positioning the bottom plates 12the water and refuse of the container is directed toward the center so that it may be conveniently discharged. In using the device, the container is adapted to be placed upon the usual toilet bowl 14L, as illustrated clearly in Fig. 1 and in such a position that the discharge opening 13 is directly over the opening of the toilet bowl.
19581. Serial No. $35,531.
Disposed longitudinally of the container and ad acent one of the side Walls 10 is a water spray pipe 15, provided with a multipllclty of apertures 16 through which the water is adapted to bedischarged. The end of the pipe may extend through oneof the end walls 11 and be provided with a cap 17 for closing the end thereof. By passing the pipe 15 through the end walls 11 a sutlicient support for the same is provided without the use of brackets or other securing means. Water may be conducted to the pipe 15 through a flexible hose 18 which in turn, may be connected to a faucet or other source of water supply.
In carrying out my invention the water is sprayed through the pipe 15 through the apertures 16 toward the side Wall 10 opposite the pipe. The cloth or diaper 19, may be secured-to this side wall 10 as shown in Fig. 3 by a clothes-pin 20 or it may be held by the upper corners and drawn past the sprays. In any event, the Water which is under force, Wlll free the cloth of any dirt thereon which, together with Water, will fall to the bottom of the receptacle and because of the inclined bottoms, be directed to the I discharge opening 13 and thereupon be discharged into the toilet bowl 14:-
It will be apparent that the dimensions of the container may be varied to accommodate articles of different sizes and also that more than one spray pipe 15may be used.
The structure illustrated in the drawing represents one and the preferred embodiment of my invention, but I particularly reserve the right to make obvious changes therein without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
A washing machine of the class described comprising a portable elongated metal container, a pipe disposed longitudinally of the container and supported in the end Walls thereof, said pipe being provided with a multiplicity of apertures, means for supplying water to said pipe, said container being open at its top side, a bottom for said container, said bottom comprising two plates inclined from the ends downwardly toward the center. thereof and forming a discharge opening, all substantially as and for the
