Be it known that I, ROBERT J. HODGE, a ctizen of the nited States, residing at West Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut have invented a new and nseful rnproveinent in Overalls Snspenders Loops; and I do hereby declare the following, vvhen taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and Which said clrawngs constitute part of this application, and represent, n
F ig. 1 a view in front elevation of en overalls suspenders loop embodying my inven tion and shown as in use.
F ig. 2 a view in elevation of the device as detached.
Fig. 3 en edge view in which the buttonsupportng pendant is shown in broken lines as swung back out of the plane of the suspension-member.
Fig. 1 a view in front elevation of one of the modified fonns Whieh my improved loop may assume, the upper portion of its suspension-member being broken away.
My inventon relates to an improved overalls suspenders loop, the object being to produce, at a 10W oost fox manufacture, a si1n ple, oonvenient and effective device of the character descrbed, constructed wth partieular reference to housing the ends of the stop-arms of the button-supporting pendant in the suspension-arrns of the suspensionmember, so as to prevent the garment trom catching upon the said arms when the button is being passed downward over them nto the pendant, which is thus permtted to lie in the plane of the loop-member and restrioted in its swingng inovenent to move ment fr-om front to rear.
Wth these ends in view, my nventon consists in an overalls suspenders loop hav ing certain details of construction as Will be herenafter deserbed and pointed out in the claims.
In carrying out my invention, as herein shown, the suspension-member is formed from a single piece of wire bent to produce a horizontally-arranged threading-eye 5 through Which the suspendenstrap 6 is passed, a button-receiving opening 7 nto which the button is initially entered, an expansble throat 8 down through whieh the shacnk of the button is passed, and two oppo sitelybowed suspension-arms 9, the lower ends of which are fiattened and bent trom front to rea1 to form knuckles 10 forgthe reception of the inwardly-bent, horzontal jpintle-arms 11 of the one-piece button-supporting pendant 12, whereby the pendant is hinged to the suspension-member. Tl1e said pendant receives and carries the button 13, which is attached by its shank 14 to the bib 15 of the overalls. Tl1e inner ends of the arrns 11 of the pendant are turned upwardly and outwardly, to form pendant-stops 16, which are snbstantially parallel with the pintle-arms aforesaid. For the reception and housing of the stops 16, the outwardlybowed suspension-arms 9 of the suspensionmember are set rearwardly just above the knnckles 10, to form forwardly-opening pockets or housings 17 deep enough to receive the pendant-stops 16 and permit the pendant to lie in the plane of the loop-mem- .ber, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. When so housed, the stops 16 are located s0 out of the way that they are prevented from catching any portion of the bib, as the button is drawn downward through the throat 8 into ts home positon in the pendant.
nder this construction, also, the pendant is prevented frorn swingng in both directions being confined to a swingng move- 1nent from front to rear, as shown by breken lines in Fig. 3.
In the modified form of my improved loop, shown by Fig. 4, the button-supporting pendant is shaped to form a centrally-arranged button-loop 18, two horizontal, outwardlyprojecting pintle-arms 19 passing throngh the knuckles 10 at the lower ends of the ar1ns 9 of the snspenson-member, and two aligned, inwardly-turned pendant-stops 20 entering the orwardlvopening pockets or housings 17 formed by setting the arrns 9 rearwardly, just above their knuckles 10. The modfied form of pendant, thus deserbed, has its bowedportions 21 facng ontwardly, nstead of inwardly, as in the button-supporting pendant of the other fignres.
I claim:
1. An overalls suspenders loop, having a one-piece suspensionmember, comprising a threading means, a button-receiving openng, an expansble throat, and tvvo suspension-arms terminatng at their lower ends in
