TO CRU .'EATENTS CORPORATEON, A CORPBATION OF NEW YORK. v
LENS SUPPORT.
application mea January 14., 191s. serial no. 211,841.
To @ZZ whom t may concern l Y Be it known that I, lNrLLniM inrinnn HOLD, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lens Supports, of which the following is a clear, full, and exa-ct description.
My invention relates to an improvement in lens'supports, especially such as used in pro- Jection apparatus.
r1`he object of my invention is to provides lens holder that can be adjusted to the diameter of-the lens and therefore vwill support lenses of various diameters,
Referring to the drawings,
Fig. 1 is a side elevation, partly infcrosssection;
Fig. 2 is a front elevation;`
Fig. 3 is an inside view of my invention.
As shown in the drawing, the bar 1 is fastened into my holder in the half casing or plate member 2 by a suitable clamping means. The half casing or plate member i?, is screwed together with the front half casing 3 by lmeans of screws l (see Fig. 2). ln each half casing are three pivotally mounted jaw arms 5. ,Three of said arms have threaded studs 6 with nuts 7 thereon to hold a plain lens 8; the other, three jaw arms in the other half casing are provided with actual jaws 12 to hold lenses 9 and 10 that are mounted in a housing 11, also called a jacket. The jaw arms 5 can be swung on their pivot 13 so that the extremity which carries the studs 6 or the jaws 12 is moved from or towards the centre point of the holder.
This movement of the jaws is accomplished by means of a cam disk 14C, which cam disk other three on the other side.
is provided with cam slots 11i-a, which engage a pin 5, whichpins are mounted in the jaw arms 5. rllhe cam disk 14 is mounted between knob 16, which is fastened on the shaft perf.
tion 15L of the worm 15. v Thus, by operating they knob 16, the j aw arms can be either opened or closed, and lenses or lens-housings of various diameters can be held quickly and firmly by my device.
lWhile I have shown and described a specie structure embodying the principles of my invention, I wish it to be understood that my invention in its broad scope as defined by the claim is not to be limited or restricted thereto, as many changes in details of construction will readily appear to those skilled inthe art without departing from the contemplated spirit and scope of my invention.`
What l claim as my invention is:
Alens holder. comprising a pair of plate members, a plurality of jaw arms pivotally mounted on each of said members, the jaw arms on one plate member terminating in clamping screws for holding one lens, and the j aw arms on the other plate member terminating in hooks for holding a lens housing,
pins carried by said jaw arms, a movable WILLIAM WENDERHOLD.
