Referring to the ligures ofthe drawings it will be noted that my invention is disclosed in connection with a brake beam of the trusstype and including; a compression member 10, a tension member 11 and aful* crum 12 interposed therebetween. `The complete connection between the tens-ion and compression members includes the main ful` cruni body13, a thimble or pivot member 6 1li,`a clamp .memberv 15 and a tension rod saddle member 16.
The main fulcrum body 13 has the'usual brake lever receiving openings l17 and alined pivot pin openings 18 in opposite walls of the fulcrum body by means of which the lever is pivotally secured to the body.y The rear end of the fulcrum body'13 is provided with a pocket 19 which receives one end of cured to the fulcruin` body 1,3 bya rivet 20, thereby making a firm` connection between the two partsin question. The front end of the fulcruin body 13 is i provided with a cylindrical portion 28, the v11o iooA end 29 of which is spherical and is received in the pocket 30 of a saddle 3l having spaced lips 32 for the reception of the tension member 1l. It will be noted that the saddle member 3l is provided with/an elongated opening 33 through which a portion of the spherical end 29 of the ulcrum body 13 ,extends so that the tension rod ll bears directly upon the spherical end 29 of the body 13, thereby eliminating any extra joints between the tension member yand the fulcrum body.
It is my intention to cover all modifications of the invention falling within the spirit and scope of the following claims.

6. ln a kbrake beam, the combination of a compression member, a clamping member secured thereto and having an offset portion with respect thereto, a reversible fulcrum body, and means for operatively connecting said body to said compression member, including a member having la head clamped between said compression member and clamping member, the head being greater in thickness than the oi'i'set of said clamping member whereby lost motion longitudinally oi the fulcrum body is eliminated.
7. ln a brake beam, 'the' combination or" a compression member7 a clamping member se cured thereto and having an oliset portion with respect to said compression member, ayreversible fulcrum body, means for operatively connecting said body to said comp-rcssion member, including a member having a head clamped between said compression member and clamping member, the head beingl vgreater in thickness than the offset of said clamping member whereby lost motion longitudinally of the ulcrum body is prevented, and means for 'limiting the extent of reversible movement of said fulcrum body. y 1` S. ln a brake beam, thecombination of tension and compression members, a reversible fulcrum body extending therebetween, a clamping connection between said fulcrum body and said compressionmember, and a saddle relatively rotatably mounted with respect to said fulcrum `bodyand having anopening through which said body eX tends whereby said body may have direct engagement with said tension member.
9. ln a brake beam, the combination oi? a compression member, a clamping member, and a reversible tulcrum body having an operative connection vwith said compression member whereby a clamping action caused by the relationship of said compression member and clamping member upon said connection prevents lostmotion longitudinally of said tule-rum body.
