Description

F. G. DIEKE.
BRUSH HOLDER FOR DBAINING BRUSHES. APPLICATION FILED ocr. I4. 1921.
INVE/Y TOR ATTORNEY Patented Dec. 12, 1922.
Patented Dec. 12, 1922.
FRIEDRICH G. DIEKE, OF JOHNSON CITY, NEW". YORK.
BRUSH HOLDER FDR DRAIITING- BRUSHES.
Application filed October 14, 1921. Serial No. 5611653.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH G. DIEKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Johnson City, in the county of Brooms and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brush Holders for Draining Brushes, of which the following is a specification. Y
My invention relates to improvements in brush holders, for draining calcimining and paste brushes especially, and it has for its object to provide a removable collapsible and adjustable brush holder for brush draining purposes and one which will removably hold the brushes while draining in a pail or other receptacle. With these objects in view, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts as will be more clearly hereinafter.
described and pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1, is a side view of my device.
2, is a rear View of my device.
Fig. 3, is a front end view of my device.
Fig. 41, is a side view of my device unfolded.
The same reference characters denote like parts in each of the several figures of the drawings. In carrying out my invention 1 provide a holder support A which may he of wood or metal. Having mounted on itsfront end the projection B, which has parallel therewith and pivotally mounted thereon an arm C, on which arm C, I have mounted or formed integrally therewith or a part thereof, a spring grip D, having projected therefrom the two parallel spring plates 3.3, and on the inner face of 3 I have mounted therein the set screw 4, on the inner end of which I have pivotally mounted a face plate 5; between the projection B and the arm C. I have the pivot 6. On support A I have p-ivotally'mounted the angular rests 7 .7 mounted parallel to each other, and having on their outer edges the downward projecting lug 8; at the rear end of support A I have the support E, having hinged connection with A by means of the hinge 9. Mounted on support E. I have the vertical lugs 10.10 in pairs opposite each other and between each I have mounted the aws 11.11 in curved outline forming between them the recess 12. Projected through the interior of support E, I have the parallel tubular opening 13.13 and 1 1.14. Beneath the support E, I have the horizontal bar 15, from the ends of which I have projecting the vertical guides 16.16 which project into the opening 18.13. Mounted on the under side of the pivoted jaws 11.11 I have the wires or rods 17.17 connected with said jaws in any convenient manner on the lower ends of which I have mounted the coil springs 18.18 which coil springs are connected in any convenient manner with the bar 15. Pivotally mounted on the under side of support E, I have the threaded rod 19. Having thread connection with the bar 15, and on the lower end of which I have mounted a turn button 20; on the inner face of support E I have mounted the eye 21, and on the side of support A I have mounted the hook 22, adapted to hook into the eye 21. In the operation of my device when I wish to use the device for draining a brush I clamp the support on the side of the pail I by placing the spring clamp D over the edge of the pail and turn up the thumb screw 4:, until the device is firmly held in position; I then adjust the support A to its proper or convenient angle, by loosening the clamping screw 6' and raising or lowering the support A until it is in its proper position; I then clamp it in position; by turning the screw 6; I then turn the rests 7.7 to a right angle position with the support A; the hinged support E being held in vertical position by means of the hook 22; I place the brush on the sup port, by placing the handle G between the spring jaws 11.11; and the body of the brush on the rests 7.7 in a position to project over the pail F for draining; the tension of the springs 18.18 are adjusted by turning the clamping screw 20, which draws down or raises the bar 15 when I wish to arrange the device for shipment, I unhook the support E from the hook 22, and turn it into a horizontal position, as shown in Fig. 1; I turn the rests 7.7, hack into alineinent with support A; I loosen turn screw 6' and turn the clamp D into horizontal.alinement with the support A; thus placing the device in form for packing or shipment.
Thus having described my invention what I claim as new and for which I desire Iiet ters Patent is as follows:
In a brush holder for draining calcimining and other hrushes-a support having mounted on its upper surface vertical pivotal parallel rests, adapted to be positioned horizontally at right angles to the sides of the support, an adjustable pivotal clamping E, and connecting with said jaws, means member mounted on the. front end ofsupmounted in said support E and projecting 10 port A, a hinged Support member E mountbelow the same for adjusting the tension ed on the rear end of support A, adapted of said springs.
to be removably held in a vertical position, In testimony whereof, I have afiixed my vertical spring jaws pivotally mounted on signature. i
the upper edge of support E, coil springs vertically and movably mounted in support FRIEDRICH G. DIEKE.
