Be it known that LGnonen @Hl/Vinson,y a citizen of the UnitedStates of America, and resident of FortVayne, in the Acounty of Allen and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Chiropractic Tables, ofwhich'the following is a specification. f
This invention relates to improvements in chiropractic tables and the object thereof is to provide apparatus' ofitsy class having a yielding central portionfin conjunction with adjustable tension means yfor sustaining thel yielding central portion. ,Another object of f the invention is to provide.adjustablemeans for sustainingpartl of the yielding portion independent of its ,tension support to limit the extent thereof. And a furtheryobject is to so construct the yielding portion of the table that its various partswill beheld properly spaced apart throughout its various stages of depression.

The frame of the table is comprised of a head pedestal l and foot pedestal 2 which are secured in connection with each other by a pair of sills 3 at their lower ends. The pedestal l has mounted upon its top a pair of head blocks l adapted to be adjustably shifted laterally and serve as a rest for the head of the patient. Within the upper por-y tion ofthe head pedestal l is arranged an equalizing bar 5 having thereon a pair of y pulleys 6, and which is secured by means of a series of springs 7 to the front part of the pedestal. `Within the upper part cf the foot pedestal 2 is arranged a pair of cross-bare 8 Fig. l is a plan view of a table embodyingy and 9 that are'k coupled together by aseries `of springs l0. The bar 8 hasconnection at its respective ends withl the corresponding ends ofa cable 1l that is trainedaround the pair kof pulleys y6 on the equalizing bar5 in the head pedestal. The other cross-bar 9 has vrconnectionsrespectively at its ends with a corresponding cable l2 which extends over al pulley 13 mounted in the pedestal and which has connection ywith a shaft 14 to be wound thereupon. The top of the table is formed with a flexible middle portion comprised of ak series of slats.r 18 andiil9-through which thefcable llk extends, kthere. being an opening 2O held spaced r.apart by springs 2l arranged interveningly therebetween on the cable, the ends of the springs extending into corresponding recesses 22 made in the sides of the slats, and the slats are supported yieldingly in position' by the cable. The end slats 19 yare also pivotally supported Lat their ends by effect of reducing the extentof flexure of the yielding top of the table. This support may be adjustably moved by any suitable means such as a rack 26 and pinion 27 operated by a hand-wheel 28. An adjustable bolster 29 is also provided for supporting the slats collectively, and includes swinging legs 8O that have pivotal connections at their upper ends with the bolster proper and at their lower ends with the sills 3, there being a'notched plate 3l on one of the sills and a latch 32 on one of the legs for retaining the bolsterin its supporting position.

In a chiropractic table, head and foot f pedestals; a spring secured equalizing member in the head pedestal; an adjustable tension member in the foot pedestal including means for adjusting same; Ya cable connected with the equalizing member and having its ends secured to the tension member; a pivot- 30 ally supported slat in connectionowith each pedestal; and a series of slats arranged interveningly between the pivoted slats in supported relation on said cable.
3. In a chiropractic table. a pair of pedestals spaced apart; a flexible top portion suspended between the pedestals and having pivotal connection 'at each of its ends with the corresponding pedestals; tension means 'for suspending the flexible top portion between the pedestals; and compression means for spreading the fiexibfle top portion.
4. ln a 1chiropractic tabley a pair of pedestals spaced apart; a iiexibletop portion suspended between the pedestals and having pivotal lconnection at its ends therewith; tension means for supporting the iiexible top portion; and an adjustable bolster adapted to sustain the entire flexible top 50 port-ion fixedly thereon.
