Be it known that l, Dario `fiunmanina, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Syracuse, in the countyoi Unondaga and State. ot New York, have invented a certain new and useful Mining and Proportioning V.Device or Valve, of which the iollowing is a specification.
This invention has 'for its object a proportioning and mixing device or Valve, par-l ticularly applicable for proportioning and combining elements or streams to be mixed in definite ratios, which device or valve is particularly simple in construction and highly ellicient in use and lurther'which can be readily attached in a threaded pipe line.
This proportioning and n'iixing device or valve is designed primarily for automatically mixing and proportioning any two elements or substances or fluids, dry or Wet, such as air with gas, liquid or powdered 'tucl for heat, light, and power generation; or air with water, oil, etc. as in air litt pumps g or streams ot any material coinbined for any purpose in just the right ratio by forming suchr elements or substances or tluids in two concentric conical sheet streams otl any desired thicknesses which iinpinge upon and intermingle 'with each other in one stream so as to produce the highest etiiciency under all working conditions at 'full or at fractional capacity.

Upon ustn'ient oi the element or sleeve 11 axially in one direction or the other the size ot the concentric conical passages 9a to the common outlet 5 are proportionately adjusted and the ratio of the streams passing therethrough remains the same per unit volume.
As illustrated in Figs. i and 2 the sleeve member il is connecte( at l5 to the cylindrical body portion 3 ot the outer member l by screw threads, and for facilitating the adjustment ot said inembe.,l it is toured with a peripheral annular handle flange i6. The extent or' such an adjustment may be determined by an indicator piece l? secured in any suitable manner as by a screw 1 8 to the body 3 of the outer member l and overlyino` the periphery of the handle Yflange 16, this ange and the indicator being` provided with suitable micrometer graduations.

As seen in Fig. 5 in cases where'the average rate of flow is about constant and no regulation is needed, then the mining` and proportioning` valve or device for permanent service may be made with the inner regulating member stationary.

1l.- A mixing and proportioning device comprising inner and outer concentric mein bers, the inner member coniprisinga pipe arranged coaxiallyvyvith'the outer member and closed`r at itsinner end and .having slots nearv its inner end opening into the. outer member,v anda sleeve kelement mounted on the pipe and closing the `outer end of the outer member and'se'cured thereto, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

A mixing and vproportioifiing `device comprising inner and outerrconcentric inem# bers, the inner member'` comprising` a pipe arranged coaxially With the outer memberl and closed at its inner end and having slots near its inner end opening into the outer member, and a sleeve element mounted on the pipe and closing the outer end of the outer member and secured thereto, the sleeve element being adjustable axiaily ofthe pipe and of the outer member to adjust the effective cross-sectional area of the passages from the slots and of the ypassage of the outer member, substantially as and forthe purpose set forth. y

A. mixing and proporti ning device ycomprising inner and outer concentric inein-r bers, the inner member comprising a pipe arranged coaxially with the outer memberr and having openings iiear'its inner end communicating with the passage of the outer member, and a sleeve mounted on the pipe and closing the outer end of the outer meinber and having screw vthreaded connection therewith 'whereby the sleeve element can be adjusted axially of the pipe and the outer member to adjust the effective size of the stream passages of the outer member and of the passage from the slots of the inner meinkbei', the sleeve element having a peripheral handle fiange at its outer end, substantially 3 Vand for the purpose described.

its inner end, a sleeve element threading in the outer end of the outer member and slidable on the pipe to open or close the passage from said slots more or less and having a conical inner end opposed to the conical Walls of the larger portion of the concentric passage of the outer member to open or close said passage more or less, and a conical piece closing in the extreme inner end of the pipe and having a conical surface extending coaxially into the narrower portion of the contracting passage of the outer member, substantially as and for the purpose described.

A mining` and proportioning device comprising inner and outer concentrically arranged members, the outer member being conical forming a contracting passage and being provided Wit-h intakes for said passage and the inner member being conical at its inner end and having its conical sui'face opposed to and spaced apart from the inner conical Wall of the outer member, the inner member being formed with a lengthwise axial rpassage and with lengthwise radial slots near its inner end leading` from suoli passage and openingthrough the conical wall of such inner member, said inner niember also including an element closing the outer end of the outer member nd having screw threaded ciigagemcnt therew'tli, said closing element being provided at its inner end With aportion of said conical surface of the inner member and being` adjustable Y sage and also open and close the passage from lthe slots' proportionately, substantially as and for the purpose described.
