AND JOHN W. MCDONALD, OF HOUSTON, TEXAS.
IMPROVEMENT IN POLICEIVIENS BATONS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 143,610, dated October 14, 1873 application filed April 12, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, SIMON BEERY, of Urbana, in the county of Ohampaign and State of Ohio, and JOHN W. MCDONALD, of Houston, in the county of Harris and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Policemens Clubs; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full,
' clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification.
The object of this invention is to provide a weapon for policemen, which shall be quite as efiective for defence or offence as the wellknown locust billy, or policemans baton,

The peace and good order of society require that the policemen carry an effective weapon in the form of a club, while humanity requires that the weapon be of such anature that needless wounds cannot be inflicted.
