To all to hum it wwgz concern i Be it known that I, Mourns COHEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans; and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Parcel-Post Mailing or C. O. D. Express Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has reference to improve ments in parcel post mailing attachments and is an improvement upon the tag attach ment for package enclosures for which Letters Patent were granted January 31, 1922, to me under No. 1,405,289, and upon which the present invention is an improvement.

In accordance with the invention, there is provided a sticker which serves as a sealing member and which provides means for the attachment to the package of a tag, the latter being obtainable from the Government, or an express company.

The sticker is in the form of an elongated strip, or strips joined in alinement, and having transversely thereof a relatively narrow strip preferably of cloth and connected to the first named strip by glue or by glue in conjunction with rivets. The cloth strip extends beyond one side edge of the sticker and is there provided with a reinforcing eye through which may be attached a tag for the address and other purposes.

lVith such anarrangement, the delivery of the pacakage is practically assured for the address tag and the attachment thereof to the package is practically assured.

The invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, with the understanding that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawings, but may be changed and modified so long as such changes and modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claims.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a plan view of a package with one form of sticker and tag attaching device connected therewith.

Fig. 2 is a reverse face view of the sticker with the tag omitted.

Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 1, but showing a different form of sticker and tag holder.

Referring to igs.- l, 3 and 5, there is shown a package 1 tobe mailed by parcel post. and the wrappings of this package are secured by means of a sticker 2, preferably of gummed paper of tough consistency and made fast by the gum to the wrappings 3 of the package.

In Fig. 1, the sticker 2 is shown as comprising two pieces 2, 2 of paper forming an elongated sticker having the face which is to be applied to the wrapper 3 furnished with a facin l of adhesive.

In the structure shown in Fig. 3, the sticker 2 is similar to the sticker 2 except that it is formed of a single elongated strip of tough gnmmed paper and intermediate of the length of the sticker there is secured thereto a tag holding strip 5 at any angle and having reinforcing rivets 6 for holding the strip 5 to the sticker in addition to the adhesive. The strip 5 is or may be somewhat longer than the width of the sticker and has one end projecting therebeyond and furnished with a reinforcing eyelet 7 through which there is passed a loop 8 which may be formed of wire to extend through and secure a tag 9 to the strip 5 in the structure shown in Figs. 3 and 4 or to a similar tag 9 secured to the strip 5 in the structure shown in Figs. 1 and 2, or otherwise.

In the structure shown in Fig. 5, a single narrow strip 10 with an eyelet 7 in one end to carry a tag 9, is provided, and the strip 10 is applied, by adhesive or other means to the parcel post package 1 directly, a loop 8 being provided for securing the tag 9 to the strip 10, the same as the tag 9 is secured to the strip 5 in the structures of Figs. 1 and. 3.

The sticker by adhering to adjacent portions of the wrapper of the package holds such wrapper in place against any liability ofcoming loose and replaces cord or such means of holding the wrapper in place, while the strip 5 being adhesively connected to the sticker provides a certain means for attaching the tag to the package. making the paper part of tough material there is an assurance that the tag will remain attached to the package and so the address of the package will remain therewith until the package is delivered.
