ATTORNEY JOHN I. NOLTE, 0l? SAN FRANCISCO, CALlR-NLL REVOLVNG PAN RACK.
Application `filed September 7, 1921. Serial No. 499,041.
T0 all 107mm t mcg/concern.'
Be it known that l, JOHN J. Norme, a citizen of the United Statesy residing` at San Francisco, inthe county et San Francisco and State of California, he invented new and usetul Improvements in Revolving Pan Racks9 or which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in racks to be used in bakeries 'for holding tl baking pans before they are placed in the oven er after they are removed therel-rom7 and it has for its object to provide a des vice of this nature capable of holdinga maximum number of baking pans while occupying a minimum of space.
Another object ot my invention is to provide means whereby the operator may readily load and unload the rack with the least motion on his part, thus saving time and labor.
lWith these objects in view l provide my device with a central upright stem secured to a portable base and upon said stem l mount the tubular center ot the rack so as to turn freely.
A plurality of arms each forming two oppositely disposed pan shelves are secured to the tubular center one above the other in such a manner as to form :tour distinct vertical rows of Shelves, thus bringing up the capacity ol the rack to a maximum.
The rack body being adapted to turn around the central upright stein enables the operator to load or unload the ent-ire contents of the rack without leaving his position by simply turning` the raclr and thus bringingcloser one row ot shelves after another as the work progresses.
The details ot construction and the inannei oi operation oil. my device are illus tinted in the accompanyingi` drawings toriningg part oit this specilicatiojn.
Fig'. jl of the drawings is a perspective viewot my device.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the center oit the same.
3 is a sectional plan of the device taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 2; and Fig. 4 is a side elevation oit the lower portion ot the device.
rlhe device as shown consists of the cir cular base l furnished with the central hub 2 which is provided with a threaded bore carrying the Central upright stem 3.
il@ l Upon said upright stem 3 is1 `mounted the tubular rack center which is formed of two light pieces oit channel iron 4 placed withtheilanges facing inwards and furnished at the top with a cast iron cap 5 formed with the seat .7 .titting the top of the stem and at the bottom with the lower cap 6 provided with the bore 8 fitting around the bottom et said stem.
fl plurality ot arms 9, l0, ll and l2 secured to the tubular rac-lr center are placed at regular intervals one above the other.
llhe said arms are made ott light iron bars et rectangular cross section7 bent in the 'form oii two square iframes diagonally disposed towards each other and joined together by the contracted portion 13 whereby they are secured to the tubular rack center 4 in the manner shown in the drawings, beingplaced with their center lines alternately one at right angle to the other; the two square iframes of each oi. the alternate arms are thus arranged in tour vertical rows 9, l0, ll and l2, each of said trames supporting` a baking pan 14, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4.
The circular base l is provided with the casters l5 in order to make the device portable. lhe device may be thus brought to the 4place where the baking pans are lilled, the several vertical rows of the shelves are there loaded in succession, keeping all the time the particular row of shelves which is being loaded in proximity to the location of the baking; pans; the rack may be then transported to the oven where one row of baking; pans after the other are removed Jfrom the shelves and placed in the oven..
ln due time the rack may he used tor unloading' the oven by placing the pans et the baked product upon the shelves and then transportingthe rack the desired place to unload the contents.
lflaving thus described my inventionj what l claim as new and desire to secure by lietters Patent is:
l. A device of the character' described comprisingan uprivht stem, an upright rack trame rotatively mounted upon said stem7 and a plurality et shelves secured at a phi-v rality of levels to said raclr frame, the shelves at each level being separated by empty spaces and arranged to come vertically opposite the empty spaces between the shelves at the two adjacent levels.
llt)
l 2. A device of the character described comprisingv a portable base, en upright Stem secured to said base, an upright rack traine rotatively mounted upon said stem, and a plurality of shelves, secured at :i plurality of elevations to said rack fiume, the shelves at euch level being' Separated by empty spaces and zulanged to come vertically opposite the empty Spaces between the Shelves at the two adjacent levels.
A device of the character described. comprising an upright rack frame, und a plurality of double Shelves Secured to seid ruck frame one above the other, each of seid double Shelves comprising squuie frames diagonally disposed one towards the other, und a contracted portion joining said squares.
4. In e device of the character described an upright ruck t'ianie and a pluielity ol? shelves Secured at a plurality of levels to Suid mok frame, the Shelves ut each level being separa-ted by empty Spaces und nii'- i'a,nged to come vertically opposite the empty Spaces between the Shelves :it the two adjucent levels.
