Be it known that I, CORNELIUS M. CoUT'rs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Issaquah, in the county of King and State of Vashington, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Shelving; and l do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in shelving for supporting bolts of cloth and has for its primary object the provision of a support having racks removable therefrom to permit the device to be used either as a center display or a wall display and also the removal of any of the racks from the support independent of the other racks may be made to permit relative adjustment of the racks for accommodating large bolts of cloth when desired.

Another object of this invention is the provision of a shelving of the above stated character, which will be simple, durable and eflicient, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.

With these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a plan view illustrating the racks arranged for center display,

Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral l indicates a support constructed from channel iron providing bottom and side walls 2 and 3. The side walls 3 are provided with elongated openings It and slots 5. The slots 5 of one side wall are in alinement with the elongated openings 4 in the other side wall for the purpose of receiving resilient racks 6. The racks are identical in construction and reference to one specifically is thought suiiicient for all and the rack includes a pair of resilient strips 7 bent back upon themselves and one strip confined within the other. The free ends of the strips are secured together by the rivet 8 and said ends are reduced to form extensions 9 adapted to fit within the elongated opening 4t of the support while the strips adjacent to their free ends are provided with oppositely arranged notches l0 to receive projections 1l at the open end of the slot of the support so as to prevent the strips from moving vertically out of the slot. To place or remove a rack from the support, the sides of the strips are compressed together disengaging the notches from the projections and the rack is then lifted partly from the notch and pulled endwise to disengage the extensions from the opposite elongated opening. The rack is replaced on the support in a similar manner and as soon as pressure is released from the sides of the strips, they'spread apart and underlie the projections preventing the dis placement of the rack from the support. The innermost strip of the rack is of a shorter length than the outermost strip and is adapted to reinforce and strengthen the outermost strip. The racks when secured to the suport contact normally with each other but are capable of ieXing to receive and grip a bolt of cloth and support the latter in a suspended position.

The racks being removable from the support will permit relative adjustment of the racks so as to accommodate bolts of cloth of extremely large size when desired by removing every other rack of the series of racks.. The removal of the racks from the support also permit the device to be used for a center display with racks extending from each side of the support, or as a wall display with the racks only extending from one side of the support.

A bracket 1l is provided with an attaching portion 12 provided with openings to receive suitable fasteners for securing the same to a wall. The body portion 13 of the bracket is shaped to slidably receive one end of the support l. The body of the bracket is of channel iron shape provided with inwardly directed flanges 14 to retain the bracket.
