CLEANING DEVICE.

Be it known that I, lVI IAM H. Rosa. a citizen of the United States, residing at Jersey City, county of Hudson, State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cleaning Devices, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to devices for removing stains or spots from cloth such as articles of wearing apparel and is of the general type disclosed and claimed in my copending allowed application Ser. No. 470,170 filed May 16, 1921. The objects had in view and the results accomplished by this invention include simplicity of construction, a more compact arrangement of the necessary parts whereby less space will be occupied in packing for shipment and whereby the attached parts will be more securely held together and will not project from the device as a whole. in such positions as to be likely to be accidentally knocked ofl, and in which both caps face downward so that dust and foreign matter will not collect in them by the action of gravity. The novel features will be more fully understood from the following description and claims taken with the drawings. In the drawings:

The container 10 may be made of any suitable form or material which will hold the liquid or fluid used for the purpose of cleaning fabric but it has a screw threaded neck 11 provided with a central opening through which fluid may be admitted to the receptacle or discharged from it. In addition to the container proper there is a movable element which is adapted to serve as a liquid-tight closure for the container in one position and in another adjustment to provide means for discharging the fluid in regulated quantities and applying it to the spot or stain on the fabric by scrubbing action. It embodies a fluid delivery tube 12 which has a closed end 13 and which has at its open end 14 a stiff brush 15 in the path of the material discharged from the tube and in fixed position thereon so that it may be used to apply the fluid to the fabric by a movement of the receptacle. A screw threaded cap 16 is rigidly secured to the tube 12 along one side under its closed end 13, the base of the cap being in contact with the lower side of the tube. Any suitable means may be used to properly secure the cap and tube together and it will be noted by reference to Fig. 2 that there is an opening 17 in the base of the cap 16 aligned with an opening 18 in the pipe 12 whereby when cap 16 is in engagement with the neck 11 of the receptacle fluid may pass through the neck and into the pipe 12 and pass down to the outlet end and the stiff brush. A second screw threaded cap 19 is practically a duplicate of the cap 16 except that its base has no opening corresponding to opening 17 in cap 16 and this cap 19 is rigidly connected along its base to the pipe 12 immediately adjacent cap 16 facing in the same direction and with the edges of the two caps in contact. This cap 19 when placed on the neck 11 of the receptacle and turned to position will form a liquid tight closure for the purpose of shipment and when the device is not in use, the position of the parts being shown in Fig. 1. 16 and 19 may be connected together as by soldering, thus making the device considerably stronger as a whole.

The operation of the device will be obvious from what has been said. It will be noted that since both caps are on the same side of the pipe 12 they extend below that pipe in next to the neck of the bottle and project only to a minimum degree from the exterior of the receptacle and thus reduce very much the liability of being knocked off by accident. When they are connected together at their sides they furthermore make a stronger structure and facing downward they will not collect dust and foreign matter in them interfering with proper closure and contaminating the fluid.

What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A cleaning device comprising in combination a receptacle for cleaning fluid having a projecting neck surrounding a discharge opening, a fluid delivery tube closed at one end and having a stiff brush secured thereto at the other end in the path of fluid which is discharged, a cap adapted to de tachably fit said projecting neck rigidly connected at its base to the side of said tube near the closed end of said tube projecting laterally therefrom, an opening being provided connecting the interior of the cap and tube a second similar cap rigidly connected at its base to said tube on the same side as and closely adjacent to said first cap said lastmentioned cap being so constructed as to form a liquid tight closure When in place on said neck.

2. A cleaning device comprising in combination a receptacle for cleaning fluid having a projecting neck surrounding a dis charge opening, a fluid delivery tube closed at one end having a stiff brush secured there to at the other end in the path of fluid Which is discharged, a cap adapted to detachably fit said projecting neck rigidly connected at its base to the side of said tube near the closed end of said tube projeotinglaterally therefrom, an opening being provided connecting the interior of the cap and tube, a second similar cap rigidly connected at its base to said tube on the same side as and closely adjacent to said first cap said last mentioned cap being so constructed as to form a liquid tight closure When in place on said neck, and said caps being provided with matching screw threads and the adjacent sides of said caps being connected toether.
