To all whom t may concern Be it known that l, ENGEIBERT NiooLUssi, a citizen of the United States, residing at Glendive, in the county of Dawson and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Culinary implements, of which the following is a specication.

This invention relates to implements einployed in culinary operations, Particularly to that department in which fruits and vegetables are cleansed and otherwise prepared for use.

An object has been to construct a simple, practical device adapted to be manually cong trolled and to perform its several functions in an efficient manner.

A. further object has been to provide a single piece of metal, with definite conformations, each having a specific purpose, the whole being arranged as a. combination device adapted to be manufactured at a small cost.

These and other objects are attained by the novel combination and arrangement of integral parts, hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming amaterial part of this disclosure, and in which i Figure 1 is a top plan view ofthe device.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the numeral 10 represents, in general, a flat piece of relatively thin metal, forming a base element from which a plurality of spaced projecting elements 1l are raised.

lThese projections, in the process of form ing, are shear-ed through the base a distance slightly less than that of the diameter of the projection at its base, thus forming an opening 12, and due to the drawing of the metal, a cutting edge 13 is automatically produced.

Referring to Figures 3 and 5, it will be seen that the projections or grater elements comprise two generally spherical portions 14 and 15.` of different diameters, the upper portion 14;v being -employedffwhen -it is` desired to grate or reduce food materials to relatively ne particles, a light pressure only being required. A coarser product is obtained by using sufficient pressure to force the material downward on to, the 'larger spherical element 15. In either case, the grated material is ejected from the base 10 through the opening 12.

Side plates 16 and 17 integral with the base 10, are disposed downwardly and longitudinally of the base, serving as a handle element and stiffening the plate.

At the opposite end of the plate, is formed a tapered semi-circular member 18, having side elements 19 and 20, arcuately curved, the end portion 21, forming an element adapt-ed to enter and cut when rotated a cylindrical portion or core, as from an apple, the end 21 being well adapted for removing defective spots from vegetables and fruits or cutting the eyes from potatoes, pine-apples and the like.

On the upper side of the tapered meinber 18, is a longitudinal raised element 22, sheared through the stock at one side, forming a narrow opening 23, the raised lip being bevelled on the outer surface to form a cutting edge 24 adapted for paring or slicing purposes, the cuttings passing through the opening 23 into the concave inner surface of the coring member.

The opposite ends of the implement are cut diagonally for appearance and an opening 25 is provided for hanging when not in use.

Although the vforegoing is descriptive of the preferred embodiment of the invention, it will be apparent that minor changes may be made iii its construction7 without the exercise of invention or conflicting with the scope of the claims hereto appended.

Having thus described my invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1 A culinary implement comprising a grater consisting of a plurality of uniformly sized annular projections forced upwardly from a base plate, said projections having the form of two semi-spherical bodies of unlike diameters arranged one above the other and separated from said base plate by an. opening whose length approximately equals that of the diameter of the largest sphere, said spherical projections being adapted to produce a fine or coarsely divided product, according to the pressure applied to the article being grated.
