A T TOPNE Y UETED STATES RICHARD MORRIS, OF GWIN'N, MICHIGAN.
BED.
Application filed May 21,
T all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Rrormno Monnrs, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Gwinn and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Beds, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompany ing drawings.
This invention pertains to beds. and more particularly to hospital beds, and the object is to provide in a simple and practical form of construction, an adjustable hospital bed, with means for readily elevating the head of the bed relative to the foot, or vice versa.
In the drawings- Figure 1 is a perspective View of the bed, showing the head elevated;
Figure 2 is a similar view of the frame of the bed, the spring mattress being removed.
Figure 3 is a detail view of the elevator block.
The invention consists of the combination of an ordinary bed frame 1, provided with triangular and demountable elevator blocks 2 having retaining notches 3 out along their long sides, and adapted to be secured to the frame at either the head or foot by means of set screws 4L, the notched sides being turned upward. Aligned holes 5 are out through the side bars 6 of the spring frame '7, at each end, to receive the cross rods 8, and similar holes 9 are out in the side bars of the bed frame 1, to receive said cross rods 8 when the spring frame is adjusted to level position.
To adjust the spring frame 7 to level position, the blocks 2 are all removed, and the cross rods 8 are inserted through a pair of the holes 5 and 9 in the side bars 6 and 10 of the spring frame 7 and bed frame 1, respec- Specification of Letters Patent, Patented Aug. 29, 1922.
1921. Serial No. 471,409.
tively. To adjust either the head or foot of the spring frame 7 to an inclined position, the blocks 2 are mounted on the frame 1, at the head or foot as desired, and the cross rod 8 at that end is withdrawn from the holes 9 in the side bars 10 of the frame 1, and from the holes 5 of the spring frame 7, after which the ends of this rod are positioned in any pair of the notches 3 on the tails. not departing from the spirit of my invention, as definedin the appended claim.
I claim:
An adjustable hospital bed, comprising a RICHARD MORRIS.
