BRUSH CLEANER.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Aug, 15, 19 22.-
7 Application filed Apri1.19, 1921. Serial No. 462,492.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK -VVEYII- RAUCH, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county of- New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brush Cleaners, of which the following is specification.
My invention relates to improvements in brush cleaners for use primarily in cleaning rotary brushes such as are used in carpet sweepers, vacuum cleaners and the like and it is my object to produce a cleaner'which may. be cheaply manufactured, efficient and capable of use by anyone.
In the drawing Fig. 1. is a perspective View of my improved cleanerand Fig. 2 a sectional View of the structure of Fig. 1 on the line 2-2 thereof. v
The cleaner comprises a handle 1 and a comb 2, preferably at right anglesto the handle' For cheapn'essin production this,
wound around the brush and core to such I an extent that the bristles'are bound down and the brush" will not perform its functlons. r 1
When a brush has reached this condition it can be quickly and easily cleaned by the use of my device. I The cutting edge of the comb is pulled longitudinally between the rows of bristles whereby the Wound-up threads, ravelings,
etc, are out, the advanced cutting edge on p the projection 4 getting f under the windings and cutting them instead of riding over them as would be the case if-the cutting edge were not advanced at the point. After the windings have been cut the comb is pulled through the bristles removing thecut wind-I ings andstraightening out thebristles. As the cutting edge is at right angles to the line of motion when combing the bristles are not inj ured.
A brush cleaner comprising a handle, a comb depending therefrom, one end tooth of which is provided with a-laterally extending projection in the" plane of the teeth, said projection and outside edge of the tooth I being provided with a cutting edge. In testimony whereof I have affixed signature FREDERICK WEYHRAUCH.
