FIGURE TOY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 1, 1922.
Application filed June 3, 1921. Serial No. 474,804.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY N. J. LINDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Figure Toys, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to toys and an object of the invention is to provide a toy which is simple in construction and easy to operate, it being applicable for use by small children.
Another object of this invention is to provide a toy simulating a ski jumper and to embody in the toy structure a suitable slide or runway to simulate an approved type of ski slide or runway whereby the figure may be started at the top of the slide and allowed to travel by gravity thereover.
Other objects of the invention will appear in the following detailed description and in the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the improved toy.
Fig. 2 is a slightly enlarged side elevation of the movable figure.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1. I
Referring more particularly to the drawing the improved toy comprises the runway or slide structure 1 which is designed to simulate a ski runway or slide and com-- prising the track structure 2 supported by suitable support-ing structure 3. The supporting structure 3 includes standards 4 braced by suitable braces 5. The track structure 2 includes a base 6 having upstanding side rails 7 attached to its upper surfaces at each edge to prevent lateral movement of the figure 10, and vertical movement of the figure 10, independent of the track, is prevented by guard plates 8 which are attached to the upper edges of the side rails 7 by means of the bolts 9 employed for connecting the side rails 7 to the base 6. The track or runway 2 is provided with alternating substantially horizontal and in clined portions as clearly shown in Fig. l of the drawing and the guard plates 8 will prevent the figure 10 from jumping off the track during operation of the toy. The horizontal end portion 11 of the track structure is detachable, and is free from the guard plates 8, except at its end which is attached to the lowermost inclined portion of the track as shown at 12.
The figure 10 comprises miniature skis 14 which have axles 15 connected thereto. Supporting wheels 16 are mounted upon the stub axles 15 and engage the bottom 6 of the track to permit free movement of the figure 10 over the track structure. The skis 14 have a figure proper or body 17 mounted thereon designed to simulate a ski jumper or person so as to add to the attractiveness of the toy.
It is, of course, to be understood that the invention may be constructed in various other manners and the parts associated in different relations and, therefore I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claims hereunto appended.
Having thus described my invention What I claim is:
1. In a figure toy, the combination, of an inclined track, a figure for movement over said track including miniature skis, a body figure mounted on said skis, rollers carried by said skis for engagement with said track, side rails on said track to prevent lateral movement of the figure relative to the track, and guard plates mounted upon said side rails and overhanging the side portions of said track.
2. In atoy, the combination of an inclined track, a figure for movement over said track including miniature skis, a body figure mounted on said skis, stub axles carried by said skis, and rollers mounted on said stub axles for engagement with said track, side rails on said track to prevent lateral movement of the figure relative to the track, and guard plates mounted upon said side rails and overhanging the portions of the track adjacent to said side rails.
In testimony whereof-I afiix my signature.
HARRY N. J. LINDER.
