Be it knownthat I, IsnAnL BLooM, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city and county of Denver and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and. useful Improvements in i-idjustable Curtain Rods; a d I do declare the following'to be a full, clear, and cxactdescription oft-he invention,

The object of this invention is a curtain rod which may be adjusted both as to length and as to position w ith'respe'ct to the window frame.

Briefly, the invention comprises a pair of curtain supporting 'arms adjustably connectupon I lates adapted spring which tends to urge it outward and downward, means being provided to hold the arms against the tension of the springs in adjusted position. 1

The window frame is indicatedin the drawings at 10 and to each side thereof an elongated strip 12 is secured by means of nails or the like 14-. A bracket 15 is adapted to be mounted upon each strip 12 by means of pins 16 adapted to enter holes in the strips 12- provided for the purpose. The reversely bent end 18 at each end of the cur-' tain supporting rod 20 is journaled in the forward portion 115 of the respective bracket 15 and is provided adjacent its innermost part and inside of the bracket 15 with a ratchet 24:. Each reversely bent end is connected with the rod 20 bya curved connecting portion indicated at 22. A spring 25is coiled about said end .18 and has its tip secured in the bracket 15, as indicated-at 26 in Figure 2. The opposite end of the spring extends outwardly in the form of a loop 28 which bears upon the curved portion 22 of the rod 20, the' spring returning thence toward the middle of the device. to-provide elongated curtain engaging rod 30 whose to provide extremity is in the form 32 adapted to fit over the device to assist inretalnlng a curtain.

There is a pair oi opposed supporting arms 20, a spring 42 being secured to the end of one arm 20, the opposite end. oi said spring 42 being secured toa sleeve 4-6 into which said end of the arm 20 projects. The opposed end oi the other arm 20 is provided with a pin 18 adapted to travel in a longitudinally-entending slot 50 'in said sleeve/i6, short bayonetslots 52 extending laterally from the slot 50 to receive the pin 48 for purposes of adjusting the length of the pair of arms 20 and pin 48 in position in one of said bayonet slots 52.

In using the device, the strips 12 are secured to the opposite sides of the window frame. The pin 48 is set in one of the slots 52 so as to the width oi the window frame 10.
