This invention relates to camp outfits, and particularly pertains to coinbined'teiits and beds. f j i It is a principal object of the present inveiition to design a'tent adapted to use one or more beds, or cots, and fwhich structures serve as suitable anchorage tor a tent trame.

The present invention. contemplates-f the `use of a cot, the end cross frame members oit which are provided with means for detachably receiving vvertical and horizontal 'trame members, over whiclia tent canvas may be disposed, said members and the cots being readily assembled-.0r knocked down, and thereafter `be disposed in a compact bundle for transportation. by way of example in the taccompanying drawing, in which-v i, Y

Referring' more particularly to the vdrawings 10 indicates a cot. -I'ii Fig. 1 accommodations are shown for two cots, while' f iiiFigs. 2 and y8 a single cot is employed.

These cots are formed with parallel side rails 11 across which a canvas 12 is stretched. The side rails .are held inposition relative to each other by end rails 13. The length` otthese rails is su'iiicient to provide a por-V tion of the rails extending outwardly from the sides of the cot. Pivoted to the side rails 11 are a pair of cross legs 14E which may swing to, fold the cot, this` of course, taking place when the end rails 13 have been removed. Secured to one end of each end rail is a ring member 15 through which a corner post 16 may extend. The lower end of this post is held in a vertical aligned position by a connecting bar 17. This bar is formed with a ring to receive the post and is pivoted to one of the legs of the Specification of LettersmPatent.

In the form of the invention shown in Fig. 1 where two cots are used, there will be two of ythe poles 21 spaced a distance yfrom each other to form a doorway atthe end ot the tent; while in the formfof-the invention shown in Fig. 2theshortvcorner post 16 and the long posts 21 will be disposed at opposite sides of the tent and in the corners thereof. The lower ends of the various posts are. formed with spikes` 23k by `which they may be anchored toptheground. The upper ends ot the posts are termed,` with extending pins 24 to receiveuthe ridge poles 25.of thetent. Vof the pole sections ,abut against each other and the hinges are on `the bottom'` side of the poles, the sections will.v assume rigid aligned positions whenuntolded. The outer ends of these. poles have openings to receive the pins 24 of the posts. In the form of thevinvention shown in Fig. 1, cross bars 27 connect the upper ends of the center posts `at each Vend of the tent. The assembled irame may then be covered withjcanvas, as shown at 28. i

By comparing the structures shown in Figs. 1 and 2, it will be noted that thelframe work .of the tent disclosedfin Fig. 1 merely represents a duplication of the franieand bed structure indicated by dotted lines' in Fig. 2, the duplicatestructures being connected and held in spaced `,relation `to each i other by the bars 27.

3, a tent of larger capacity is provided while embodying the same inventive idea. In this case, ring bars 29 are secured to one leg of` a cot to detachablv receive corner posts 30. The other leg ot the cot receives a standard 31 having. an eye through which a pole 32 extends. Brace members 33 and 34 areprovided to receive the lower end ot the pole.

An adjusting collar is carried by the posts 32 and rests against the brace 34, thus preventing longitudinaly movement of the post. A ferrule 36 is provided to permit the posts 32 to be Separated into two sections when not in use; and means are also furnished, as indicated at 37, to lallow the standard 31 and the braces to be removed from the cot.

In the operation of the presentinvention it will be assumed that all of the parts are in their knocked-down condition, at which time the cots will be folded. -To set up the tent of the forni shown in Figs. 1 and 2, it is first necessary to unfold the cots and then apply the end members 13 thereto, at which time the bars 17 maybe swung outwardly from their pivotal mounting 18 to receive the lower ends of the corner posts 16. These corner posts are passed down through the positions andl the braces 22 are swung up@ rings l5 and the eyes of the bars 17. The upper ends or the corner posts are connected by the ridge pole 25. The ring bars 19 are then thrown outwardly to' their horizontal corners oit the cot, after which corner posts 30 are mounted through the eyes ot the bars 29, and the supporting posts 32 are passed through the eyes of the standard 31 and the brace 34:. The extreme height of thev tent' may then be regulated by an adjustment of the collar 35.

It will thus be seen that the structure here disclosed, while simple inoperation and inexpensive, provides desirabletolding meansV for furnishing a tentwitli cots and a rigid frame structure.

While l have shown the preferred form of my invention, it is to be understood that Vvarious changes may be made in the combination and structureby those skilledV in the art without departing 'from the spirit of the invention.

having thus described my invention, what l claim and desire to secure by Letters Pat ent is:

The combination with a cot, a set of upper and lower rigid arms having connection at each outer corner of the cot, one arm of each set being pivoted to the cot, each arm having a rigid ring at its outer end, tent posts passing entirely through the ring inembers ot said sets of arms and engaging the ground at their-lower ends and unconnected with the ring members, a foldable ridge pole connecting said posts, another set of upper and lower rigid arms having connection with each inner corner of the cot, the uppermost arm of each second set oi arms being pivotally connected to the cot and having a ring' member at its outer end, said last mentioned pivoted arms being formed upon a curve7 and when extended, being directed upwardly and outwardly with its ring member disposed in vertical alignment with the respective ring member ol the respective lower arm, tent posts passing through the ring members of said second sets of arms and un connected with the ring members and longer than the aforesaid tent posts and at their lower ends engaging the ground, a ridge pole connection between the longer posts, the pivoted arms and their' ring members being sustained in extended positions by the posts, anda tent covering for the structure.

2. The combination with a cot, a. set of upper and lower rigid arms having connection with the cot at4 each outer corner of the cot,` each arm `having a rigid'member at its outer end whereby the ring members are spaced from the cot, tent posts passing entirely through the ring members ofieach set of arms and unconnected therewith, a ridge pole connection between said posts, another set of rigid arms having connection with the i cot at each inner corner thereof, one arm of the latter set being pivotally connected to the cot, each arm carrying a rigid ring niember at its outer end, tent posts passing through `the ring members of each sety of arms at each inner corner of the cot and un* connected with t-he ring members and being longer than the aforesaid tent posts and sus taining the last mentioned pivoted arms in extendedl operative "positions, a ridge pole connection between the longer posts, and a tent covering for the structure,
