To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, STEPHEN S. K. Brnoscan, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Bridgeport, county of Fair-field, and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in a toy and more especially to a figure toy the primary object being to provide a toy within an inclosure or housing and to have the same operate or perform by and during movement of the closure of the housing.

In the present embodiment, the invention consists of a housing representative of a bath house and equipped with a hinged door. A toy, representing a person preparing for or returning from a bath stands within the bathhouse holding a towel or the like which is draped in front of the toy to Conceal the same at least in part, such draping motion being imparted by movement of the door of the house to an opened position.

The invention further resides in the features of construction and the arrangements and-combinations of parts hereinafter 'described and claimed reference being made to the accompanying drawings wherein:

Referring more in detail to the drawings the housing 1, herein represented as a bath house, is equipped with a door or closure 2 hinged to one side of the front opening or doorway. A toy 3, in the form of a. bathing individual, is anchored at the base to the floor of the bath house and consists of a flat body having vertical bearings 5 on the rear side thereof in which is journaled a vertical shaft 6. This shaft has its lower end extended beneath a guiding staple 4, on the floor, forwardly of the top figure, to form a rocker arm 7, and its upper end portion extended rearwardly at an obtuse angle to arm 7 and in substantially the plane of the shoulders of the figure to form an arm Specification of Letters Patent.

8 which has its free end curved forwardly with arm 8 as a radius whereby said arcuate part 9 will move around the side and in front of the body. A towel 10 has one upper corner fastened to the free hooked end of the arcuate arm 9 and the other upper corner secured to the opposite shoulder or side of the body in a manner suggestive of its being grasped by the left hand. In the illustration, the upper arm 8, 9 passes around the right side of the body and supports the right arm 11 of the toy figure.

In operation, the arm 7 is pivotally connected to the free edge portion of the door by a link 12, and when the door is in its closed Position said link swings said arm inwardly to the left side of the figure and the arm 8 is swung outwardly across the front of the otherwise stationary figure 3 which folds the towel to undrape the figure. When the door is opened it pulls on the rocker arm 7 and Swings it in the shaft bearings until limited by the stop pin 13 on the floor being engaged by arm 7, thereby swinging the right arm from across in front of the body which movement causes the draping of the towel in front of the figure to conceal it from the view of the person opening the door. It will be noted that the right arm is withdrawing to the rear of the body and has no direct connection thereto.

While I have depicted the representation of a bath house and a human being therein it is obvious that this is only one embodiment of the invention and that other embodiments may be obtained such as a rat and dog wherein the latter catches the former upon opening the door, or a window could open and a horse putout his head. Furthermore, while a single door has been shown it is not my intention of so limiting myself to the exclusion of two or more doors.

What is claimed is:

1. A toy comprising a housing having a door hinged for opening movement, a figure fixed to the floor of the housing and provided on its back with a vertical bearing, a shaft journaled in the bearing and having its lower end extended forwardly and securred arm and to the opposite side of the body for being draped acrosa the figure by movement of the curved arm upon opening the door.

2. A to comprising a housing having :1 closure, at figure fixed therein, a flexible concealing member secured at one edge to one side of the figure and adapted to have the opposit edge moved across in. front of the figure, a rocker shaft journaled in a vertical bearing in the figure, having terminal upper and lower rocker arms, the said opposite edge of the concealing member being connected to the upper (u-m, and a connection between the lower arm and the closure.

3. A toy comprising a housinghaving u closure a figure fixed therein, a flexible concooling member secured at one edge to one side of the figure and adapted to have the opposite edge moved across in front of the figure, a rocker shaft journaled in a vertical bearing in the figure, having terminal upper and lower rocker arms, the said opposite edge of the concealing member being connected to the upper arm, a body member representing a part of the figure carried by the upper arm, and a connection between the lower arm and the closure.
